I don't think Microsoft will give a second thought to how Ubuntu handles it's upgrades. Or maybe in some dusty corner of R&D land they have a young coder keeping tabs. Couldn't care less, Windows 10 cost me nothing and it works well.

It used to be said that MS workers went home in the evening to their Linux PCs but I'm sure that's not really true! :extrawink:

About 30 years ago on another walk. Our Dan would have been 40 today.

Indeed Maz, we are going on a walk with the rest of the family and stopping of at the Lock Stop for a brew and a cake. This years truncated walk for Dan. Our Carla is about 12 in this photo, Dan 10 and our Jack 4 or thereabouts. Gordale Scar t'other side of Malham I reckon. I had hair then but was fast growing through it and my beard was brown, happy days with three gorgeous kids.

Sad for me Ian, you should never have to bury your kids. It's the worst I reckon.

Susan went to Derbyshire yesterday for the scattering of my brother's ashes. It involved a challenging walk on to the moor, so I stayed at home. She says it was a very happy occasion
One thing of interest that will ring a bell with all of you who have had to deal with probate. He was joint owner of his flat in London with the local council and under the terms of the agreement they are responsible for valuation and sale. This means that the chain involves the council legal team, a London solicitor and one in Derbyshire. The lady who is his trustee says it looks like a long haul. Add to this the slow down in government services and I think she may be right!

A chance conversation at the scattering of Leslie's ashes led to me getting mail this morning that I shall respond to and it will be life-changing. All families have 'secrets' and I have always tried to be open with my kids. Others have not been as honest and this morning I have to reveal something I was a party to that I thought everyone knew about. It turns out I was wrong and fifty years later I have to put the record straight. Life can throw curve balls at times....
There will be consequences but I am certain I am doing the right thing. When in doubt, be honest. There are very few exceptions to this rule.

Eight years ago today since we got the knock on the door in the early hours to tell us that our Dan had been killed in an RTA. It seems like yesterday and always will I suppose. We normally have a family get together one way or the other for Dan but can't this year. So we we'll do our own thing, a trip down to Gill for Sally and myself and we will have a celebratory curry for tea, Dan would like that. I know Carla and Jack will be thinking of their brother today. He would have just turned 40 last July but will forever be 32.

Family wedding tomorrow - postponed from the Spring. White knuckle ride. Missed Tier 4 this afternoon, by about 10 miles, but that disqualifies several of the permitted 15 guests who cannot now travel. Subs called for from the 'bench'. Photographer got Covid on Tuesday- another reserve called forward.

I'm a Zoomer thank goodness/

David. Encourage the participants by pointing out doing the wedding by zoom is just as legal, quicker and a lot cheaper.
I wish the happy couple well.

News that one of my grand daughters has suffered what to all intents and purposes is a stroke. The symptoms are slowly subsiding and she is in hospital for tests.
At the moment it feels as though, as a family, we are under attack!

A friend of ours suffered a stroke while out running, she is in her 30s. It's been a fairly slow recovery but she's back driving now, I never realised how common it was in younger people.
