Seen in the News
Re: Seen in the News
Must be a slow news day, I've been avoiding the story. Hopefully they don't drive through any tunnels...

"Must be a slow news day"
Not really, plenty of solid news to comment on but do the BBC realise correctly the intelligence level of their audience and have they the staff to do the hard news reports? Like the dead tree industry they have adopted the era of 'the citizen reporter' with an i-Phone and sacked most of their hacks, click-bait and 'popular stories' are the grist that comes to their mill. That's where Kardashian and Sussex income comes from, an underfunded and under-performing hard news media.

I read that the Duchess of Sussex , in addtion to bullying her staff, had the bad taste to wear earings borrowed from Mohammed Bin Salman, the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia. I am shocked I tell you.
Surely not something other family members could be accused of?

Nice one David.....
Watch out for media giving Oprah and guests full coverage after today's broadcast.
Total waste of space, the lot of them.

Re: Seen in the News
Which makes me think about 'WHATS IN A NAME'. How much longer have we to endure this anachronism of pseudo titles and 'make your name up as you go along' all propaganda just to keep the plebs happy and the money rolling in.
Trying to navigate this camouflaging labyrinth its probably best to start somewhere that most sane minded people think they can understand.
Queen (Alexandrina) Victoria. with no original title but from the house of Hanover on marriage became = Saxe-Coburg-Gotha
George V was initially = Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. changing it to Windsor in 1917.
(Albert Frederick Arthur) George Windsor. George V!. stuck with Windsor. although actually Albert Frederick Arthur George Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.
Our current Queen before marriage was known as = Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor.
Turning our attention to Philip 'Duke of Edinburgh'
Philip's father's name was. Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. but later took his mother's maiden name Battenberg which was later became Mountbatten.
Elizabeth married Philip but retained her name of Windsor but should have been Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg.
Prince of Wales, Prince Charles is a compromise with a name of Mountbatten Windsor.
Prince Harry also carries the name Mountbatten Windsor.
Finally Meghan the Anonymous is really Megan Mountbatten Windsor. or Meghan Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg
No wonder she wants to remain anonymous.

Gosh have we still got a royal family? I thought that just a National Trust brand!

Re: Seen in the News
I heard this during the night, and having seen nothing about it this morning began to think I'd dreamt it. However - Early wedding
Curiouser and curiouser. She thought she was getting into the British version of the Kardashians - someone should have explained it better to her.
PS.
Ah now I see someone has looked a bit closer at it. The other wedding
Seems it's not me dreaming - it's her.

Re: Seen in the News
After an hour and a half battling with the government on the phone.... I turned R4 on at 13:19 and guess what I got. That's right, Meghan Mountbatten Windsor. or Meghan Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. Sod it, I shall retreat into Shardlake.

Was there not an online chat facility available? I have used chat for discussions with IR, HMRC and DVLA much easier and you get to save a transcript.

Re: Seen in the News
Or not seen in the news. Boris Johnson clapping his hands for Harry & Meghan. Why? because its taken those nasty headlines away about the meager 1% pay rise offered to the nurses off the headlines. How can we afford lashing money out like this when we have been cutting back for years trying to save money?
Re: Seen in the News
I say it as an Australian of an age to be Harry’s Mum.
No-one gives a crap. You are of Royal birth and privilege, and thus you were wrapped in comfort and great safety. You lived the high life in your youth. You chose to marry an actress...Princess Pushy.
She saw you coming, dude! She has your anatomy in her handbag!

Re: Seen in the News
All this is a re-run of Edward V111 Duke of Windsor and that American divorced woman, tut, tut, with shaking of head, Mrs Wallis. Besides he had he temerity to say 'something should be done' about the unemployed coal miners. An even worse crime than marrying the wrong type of woman.
Also buried in history is Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, who married Britain’s George III in 1761, Don't talk about such things.
I agree with Maz. No.one gives a crap!

And Absolutely NOTHING is to do with Racism!
Re: Seen in the News
Is that an Australian phrase, Maz. I'm not familiar with it and it conjures up some strange images!
I've no real interest in the issue but the racism slant in the current story puzzles me. Comments about what her baby's skin colour would be. She doesn't look any different skin colour to Royals!

Considering that so many of you aren’t interested in Harry and Meghan, there is certainly a lot of chat happening here about them.

Re: Seen in the News
Spot on Cathy. It is said that 31 of the Mailonline's top 32 stories yesterday were on the topic. I didn't watch the actual full broadcast. No need - the good bits were highlighted elsewhere. So many angles to approach it from. All tastes catered for. High class gossip for all.

Re: Seen in the News
I've not watched the broadcast, just picked up on the bits in the news and posted on here. If their calls for help with mental health were ignored, and the stories are true, it's absolutely disgraceful on the part of those they were asking.

Re: Seen in the News
I was more appalled that Meghan was tottering around on such high heels whilst being so pregnant. Not good for a body.
