I still have my copy of "I'll never find a other you" from 1964. The Seekers were very much part of the soundtrack to my early teens!

Not a fan of Grease, but I discover that she was born in Cambridge, that her dad was an MI5 man at Bletchley Park, who later was headmaster at the school my young lad attended, and for good measure her grandad won a Nobel Prize.

Good detailed Obit in the Mail. Olivia Newton John

It would be in bad taste to mention her illness and her ancestry - so I won't.

I have just learned this morning of the death of Wolfgang Petersen aged 81. He was the director of my favourite film, 'Das Boot'. He died on August 12 but for some reason there has been a delay.

Someone died yesterday - a long way away. In respect to the family I won't give a name, but I'd like to mark his passing on here. I'm upset again.

Suffice it to say -

"Requiem aeternam dona ei, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat ei. Requiescat in Pace. Amen.

"Grant him eternal rest, Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen."

One of the penalties of surviving into old age David. You have to bury your friends, and if you're really unlucky, your kids....

Eddie (Edwin) Gullick. One of the permanent features of the RR Barlick. Full of energy and good humour well known in Family History circles always willing to put himself out to help others.

Sadly missed.

See THIS Obituary for Mikhail Gorbachev who has died aged 91.
The polar opposite of Putin, he believed that Russia could co-exist with the West.

Sad but inevitable news which I thought I could handle easily until we saw a shot from Balmoral showing a rainbow over the gates. I find the modern idea of dead pets waiting for us at "Rainbow Bridge" ridiculous but suddenly I was seeing all the Queen's horses and dogs waiting for her and I was a sobbing mess!! Good Luck Charlie.
