And it worked, best start up of a topic ever I reckon.....
Today I shall be in the shed working on the bed casting which has more flash that any casting I have ever seen. The forecast looks good for bookie watch. Could be a nice day.....
Later.... I have to report that the staff has rebelled and is refusing to go into the shed. Nothing like a day off!
I do not feel in the least bit guilty.

Morning

Lovely day yesterday. My appointment at lunchtime was cancelled so I managed a couple of hours in the garden. I cut back my climbing plants and roses, laying in the softer shoots shoots horizontally to encourage new upright shoots next year. I tidied up the bird feeders and tidied the greenhouse a little. I filled 4 large containers with compost ready to plant my winter planting broad beans. I shall do that today and keep the pots in the greenhouse until good sized shoots appear to try and protect the seedlings from marauding squirrels that are getting to be a real nuisance.

In the afternoon we did a 4.5 mile walk up to Lobden golf course on the old Limers way and packhorse trails . Its a 2.5 mile climb on some quite rough roads ascending from 615 feet at home to just short of a 1000 at the golf course. The descent was rapid and a bit shorter coming back through a newly planted ( 4 year old) wood and over the moors . The moors were very soggy indeed and we sank in more than once. It rained here every day last week so, knowing the state of our own garden, we changed our intended route up to Rooley moor. However it was very pleasant and kept us away from the Dell and the waterfalls which get very busy on a nice day. I think we only saw about three people.

This morning is painting on zoom with Briony, I want to change the bedding to take advantage of the nice day to dry the duvet cover outside, and I have some ironing to do including a painted silk scarf we did in art on Friday. The technique is a bit like tie dying and producing some very effective marbling effects. Later I shall make some amaretto ice cream, a trial run for Christmas/New Years Eve. Oh yes, I shall plant my broad beans as well.

Have a good day all , its forecast to be a nice one, though some dark clouds have just appeared in what was a beautiful blue sky.

Morning

Another beautiful day yesterday, I had a list of small jobs a mile long which included drying bedding outside which was good. Bob had a busy afternoon with train rides at the park so this afternoon will be a walk into Rochdale to bank the cash . We need to walk off that amaretto ice cream :laugh5: Fog this morning and drizzle this afternoon but we are not expecting to get too wet. This morning I have pilates and Yin yoga.

Have a good day all

Same here Sue. Our 'afternoon mist' turned out to be a light shower.
In the shed for more work on the bed and if the forecast is correct, bookie watch will occur around noon. (And I need some Cox's as well from Chaudrey's.

Morning

Another foggy damp morning set to continue all day with rain forecast this evening . We managed our walk to Rochdale yesterday afternoon getting home just as the mist became rain. On the way home we stopped at a local furniture shop and bought a much needed new bed mattress in a sale which will be delivered this morning at 9.30 am . Yesterday I almost forgot I had art in the evening at the local community centre. By the time I went out at 6.30 pm it was heavy rain.

I have no other plans today , though I have pilates and yoga this evening. I will take it as it comes. I may play on my sewing machine.

Have a good day all

Morning

What a good nights sleep we had on our new mattress, a good solid 8 hours plus. It was an expensive mattress in a sale and was a bit of an impulse buy as we were passing the shop on our walk . Yesterday was a bit of a hotch potch. It was an awful day , rain, fog, dark and dismal so I jig sawed and then decided to have a go at some machine embroidery advertised in my sewing magazine. Whilst downloading the images on my lap top that started playing up so I spent some time doing a disc clean and removing unwanted files. Needless to say by the time I had my images for sewing there was no time to sew. I may do a bit this morning. This afternoon I am at my sewing session with Maxine and this evening in the studio for pilates.

Thats my day, have a good one.

Expensive mattresses are hard to get up the stairs. At King street I had to take the treads out of the staircase!
That was over 45 years ago and the same mattress is still going strong.

This deceptively simple pic shows the front lid fitting nicely into the casting. As my friend Ethel used to say "It ain't easy!" Read shed matters......

We are in a bungalow, lots of twists and turns as we have extended the house considerably creating a bit of a maze.. Not easy but at least no stairs to climb. We joke that we cannot move as we can’t get the furniture out of the house as the extensions were done with most of the present furniture inside . The bedding just about fits but really I need new, the depth of the mattress is greater than the one we replaced

A bungalow would have been a lot easier, a 6ft wide mattress is hard work with less than 6ft headroom up the stairs. It weighs 60kgs too :biggrin2:

We're not planning on moving until we need to replace the mattress again :laugh5:

Our headroom isn’t good in the front hall , then three tight bends before you get to the hall to the bedroom. However a standard mattress not a kingsize , we are small people here 🤣🤣😂

As for today, I shall be in the shed but as it's wet and windy there will probably not be a bookie watch!

Morning

Nice day yesterday, surprisingly. I had a productive sewing session with Maxine and a massive redesign of the pattern front of my jacket toile, thus I now have a list of sewing jobs to do. Maxine is coming here next Wednesday as I promised to demo the embroidery part of my machine.

This morning is a misty start and damp cloud forecast all day. I have art at Haslingden with our lovely guest water colourist m Judy, this week. This afternoon if it is not actually raining I may do some more cutting back in the garden, a lot of things have died off this week.

Have a good day all

I have had a couple of hours in the shed doing fiddly things and have not made any mistakes. That means it is a good day.....
