What do you give to the person who has everything? A good pic they haven't seen before.
Your day sounds good. My day has started OK with almost two hours in the shed doing close work and no cock ups!

Here's where I finished today, all my drillings in the stand marked and ready to make the steam pipe to fit in the hole in the stand I have drilled and tapped. Lots of fiddly drilling to do yet but we are slowly getting there.

I decided to light the stove in the front room. First to dry the flue out and clean it if there is any loose soot and second because we are in what could be the last cold spell and it's not a good idea to leave a flue unused for too long. That way, when you do need it you find there is a fault, usually a blockage due to fallen soot. So I shall remember to have a good flue clean this summer. That way I shall have a stove ready for next winter if I need it.

Morning,
A beautiful sunny morning, with several inches of snow. This is the most snow we have had all winter. It is thawing rapidly thank goodness. Yesterday was cold but sunny and fairly warm in our back garden till about 3.00. Then you felt the weather change. I went and covered all my plants in the greenhouse, I hope it worked. I plodded on sorting my photos but I am still not at the end, however there have been some lovely finds, including, eventually , photos of all our cats, as requested by Briony. The jigsaw and games cupboard/ shelves are now tidy and rationalised too. This leads me nicely into my memory drawer and box, which I will tackle sometime soon. I am feeling very virtuous

This morning I have the bed to change and washing to finish , followed by a zoom call to Briony. This afternoon we shall pop up to Preston to take Claires sewing machine back. It will certainly have to be a wrap up warm visit. Bring Sunday, I will round off the day with one of my course chapters and assessments.

Have a good day everyone

Goodness Sue! Nothing Like that here. That's winter.... We had a bit of wet snow around 20:00 yesterday but after that a clear sky and a sharp frost. It's clear cold and sunny at the moment.
I had an hour in the shed....

Image

The standard has a steam pipe now. I lit the stove in the front room to dry the flue and it's still in. I shall keep it in all night again as we are to have another frost.

Fabulous pics. Love ‘em. Thankyou.

So sorry your painting plans were dashed P. ( shame eh)? My husband would have been truly gutted too. (Not)

I would have been more gutted, having led him to the paint aisle and having loaded up hubby’s arms with all necessary equipment, and then loaded his sad and sorry butt back in the car, as he sends up his silent prayer for snow!

We had the snow last night but it melted as soon as it hit the ground. Wall to wall sun all morning but freezing. It looks to be clouding in a bit at the moment. Might be a good idea to get out there and have me walk....

Beautiful afternoon sat in Claires garden in Preston, and warm in the sun. Here the snow has gone but it is 2 degrees. Its still snowy at Bacup and sleeting as we drove through.

I should be drilling steam passages. We'll see because one of the drawbacks of firing the stove in the front room is that it knocks the CH out and the shed gets no heat at all. Very cold in there this morning!.

Morning

Snow all gone but -2 this morning, with lovely blue skies. After the chores of cleaning the kitchen (Bobs job) and changing the bedding, washing and ironing ( my job) we had a lovely trip out to deliver Claires sewing machine and sit in the garden yesterday afternoon, a real sun trap but reality of the weather hit as we drove back over the hills. It was barely 2 degrees in our garden and sleeting in Bacup.

Today is pilates and dance exercise this morning. In the afternoon we are going to see Wendy and Keith for a sit in their back garden. It won’t be as warm as yesterday but it is due to be fine and dry. Wrapped up well we will be OK. The shops may be opening but as usual we shall keep well away. We will need to visit ASDA one day this week to buy som wine for Saturdays u3a wine appreciation group.

Fitness activities and our socialising will fill today, have a good day everyone

Is your CH thermostat in the front room then?

No, on the landing upstairs, the place where normally the temperature is most stable. The ideal place under normal conditions but the stove overrides it. No problem, I quite enjoyed having a morning off.....

Ah right, I had two heating zones at Park Street so was able to shut the doors on one of the stats. The stove would keep the downstairs warm and the CH would look after the rest of the house.

Ours is in the dining room which is open plan to the kitchen ie no door, we took it off and made an arch. When we cook a roast meal the room thermostat switches the heating off and thus it is cold in the lounge. Now we open the dining room door to the hall, which is always cool. So the dining room cools and the lounge warms up. Sometimes we give in and light the wood burner in the lounge , like this week :laugh5:

Morning

Still no sign of our second jab yet but expect a call imminently, if not I have a phone number I can contact.

This morning I have a hairdresser appointment and not before time. My hair is now quite thick and wild and my fringe is constantly in my eyes. So much so one eye is really quite sore from stray hairs sticking in it. The appointment will take up most of the morning. This afternoon we may take a walk over to the pharmacist for our prescription repeats, this evening is pilates and yoga and thats another day gone. I shall intersperse my activities with sorting the memorabilia. I cleared another drawer yesterday. Its a slow job but is worth the effort, four cupboards and one drawer sorted. There is another drawer to tackle which is full of instruction booklets for various pieces of kitchen and household appliances. I do this periodically to clear out all the books for appliances that we no longer have. It shouldn’t be too big a job but needs doing.

Have a good day everyone.

Lined up for my first indoor swim at lunch time. Don't Know how I'll manage with this mop on my head. At least the chlorine will bleach the roots to match the rest of it.
The Gods were against me for garage painting. Managed to wash the paneling down with warm soapy water to get the green algae off and chase the spiders about. Cold stopped play when I found the outside water pipe frozen up. As they say always leave something for tomorrow. :laugh5:

I haven't fired the stove since yesterday morning but it's still giving enough heat to knock the thermostat out and the shed is cold. No bother. I am a bit achy after the second jab and I'm going to take it easy. Definitely not including standing in a cold shed doing tiny fiddling things. Like painting garage doors, there is no rush.
