Just in case worrying about climate change and Brexit isn't enough for you - this is from today's Guardian. Honestly  ( Elvis is Martin Elvis - an astrophysicist at the Smithsonian.)

Working with Tony Milligan, a philosopher at King’s College London, Elvis analysed how soon humans might use up the solar system’s most accessible resources should space mining take off. They found that an annual growth rate of 3.5% would use up an eighth of the solar system’s realistic resources in 400 years. At that point, humanity would have only 60 years to apply the brakes and avoid exhausting the supply completely.

From the comments section of some web site that I spend far too much time looking at -

As Steve Norris tweeted about Boris
“Everybody likes him except the people who know him.”

Or as someone said of Esther McVey
"Shes the kind of person who would unplug your life support machine to charge her mobile phone".

From Keith Simpson MP.

The Tory MP gave a startling view of Mr Johnson saying

"at the end of the day, he will always let you down."

That was very timely - given the shenanigans revealed overnight. :laugh5:

I wonder how many other ' domestics' get such a quick and thorough response in this age of cut backs? All credit to the Metropolitan Police.

Has he blown it - well Hunt is down to 4/1 from 7/1, and five weeks hustings could be unsustainable / unbearable. Who knows what else is in store?

PS I find this on the Guardian, ( who are the sole source of this scoop ) - everyone else is quoting their report.

The neighbour said that after becoming concerned they knocked on the door but received no response. “I [was] hoping that someone would answer the door and say ‘We’re okay’. I knocked three times and no one came to the door.”

The neighbour decided to call 999. Two police cars and a van arrived within minutes, shortly after midnight, but left after receiving reassurances from both the individuals in the flat that they were safe.

When contacted by the Guardian on Friday, police initially said they had no record of a domestic incident at the address. But when given the case number and reference number, as well as identification markings of the vehicles that were called out, police issued a statement saying: “At 00:24hrs on Friday, 21 June, police responded to a call from a local resident in [south London]. The caller was concerned for the welfare of a female neighbour.

Two Police cars and a van within minutes ? ( despite cut backs, and 20,000 fewer police, ) and despite the Police going officially 'no comment', the Guardian had the Case Number and Reference Number. Plenty of material here for a 'conspiracy' ?

I noted the rabid contributions from Tory MPs saying that the bloke who blew the gaff was a Corbyn supporter but as the man pointed out, he knew that the woman had been a victim of Warboys the taxi cab rapist and he was concerned for her. Sounds reasonable....

Not many have spotted that - or are choosing not to mention it?

Now - from comments somewhere. . .

It's amazing isn't it? Our government tells us that exiting the EU is laden with obstacles, a near on impossibility. And that the cost to British business, without reaching a 'deal', will be crippling.

Controlling the climate however is perfectly practicable, and at a cost of £1trillion; well, it's no price to pay for such a feat

There's a hell of lot of that about P! Never seen as much spin, twaddle and outright lying.

Jeremy Hunt on China's failure to keep its word on Hong Kong (on `Today' this morning): Unlike China `We always meet our international obligations'. He won't be able to say that in the future if we crash out of the EU!

He needs to read his history, we have some pretty egregious examples of acting worse than China. The current one is the Chagos Islands. We expelled the inhabitants to accommodate a US communications monitoring base.

The BBC's Laura Kuenssberg on Twitter quoting an MP who voted for Johnson: `..he's the last grenade we have left in the pouch'.
