The hook slots into the interior of your door-look when the vehicle door is open ( not on the open door, but on the wall off the vehicle beside wher your seatbelt is) it folds down to become a step. On high vans like ours, over 3 metres high, one can check the roof.
I honestly think my husband will kill himself falling from it...but he buys all sorts of crap on line. He thinks ( possibly) it holds 100kg...but he is 90kg....and who can trust a product made in China?!!!

And China...as this object can only be used when the van is parked, and the door is open....how on earth do the retailers think you are going to be able to find it in an accident...let alone use it successfully to break a window?!
I can't say it would be the first thing that springs to mind if I find myself upside down in the van after an accident.
( note to self....must find that crappy thing hubby bought on line if trapped in van )

One of the things I have found in China is that they have a measure called jin which is 500g. I think there is the equivalent in Hong Kong called a catty. Unfortunately when webpages are translated to English 10 jin become 10 kg as there is no English equivalent of jin. So a website often says so much per kg when they mean price per 500g. Hope your 100 kg safe load isn't 100 jin!

PS I think you're supposed to use the supplied 3M velcro tape to stick it to a window so that you always know where it is.

Over here, all buses and train coaches have emergency glass-breaking hammers fitted and they are attached to the pillar between the windows.
I think the steps are a great idea, so simple and useful in your campervan.

I was thinking the same with the metal pointed stud at the end although the conventional hammer type with a handle would be more efficient.

The pointed stud might be enough. I remember a lecture by a glass expert where he placed a sheet of glass on a clean table and stood a heavy weight on it. Of course it didn't break. Then he did the same but placed a tiny bit of grit on the table first. When he put the weight on the glass shattered.

I made my comment based on the thought that the object was actually plastic and not metal. In which case there will be a bit of weight behind a blow. A shaft though as in a hammer action would still apply more impact force I would reckon. You can knock a nail in with a brick but it's not as efficient as the correct tool for the job.
