It's for putting the bends in boomerangs. The trunks of boomerang trees are straight and need to be processed under great pressure in a machine like this one.

Is it for baking Bread or Christmas Cake or Puddings in?

OR...just had one of my neurones run into another...is there a hole in the bottom? Turn it upside down over your ball of wool to keep it clean while knitting, and stop the cat from getting to it. Wool comes out of the hole.
