`..for the wealthy so they could have a walk without getting wet in the rain' (Kev) and `for exercise when the weather was poor' (Gloria) are part of the answer. But what is the correct name for such a building and whose was it, and where? I'll give a clue - it was principally for one person.

An ambulatory? I'll take a guess at Horton in Gloucestershire as it's the only one I could find.

I found this. It looks as though Kev is right and it's the ambulatory at Horton.

Spot on! An ambulatory built for Sir William Knight so that he could enjoy the views over his fish ponds which were appreciated for their aesthetic value as much as for the provision of food.

I’m thinking that it’s not the Big Pineapple on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland.

Ah, vaguely familiar isn't good enough. The question is 'what and where'.

It's obvious that you both have it. See THIS for a full description.
My problem with things like this is that I can't help wondering where the money came from to build them. I know, 'Politics of envy' and all that but I still think it's worth considering.
