Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Sorry but no, you're all hovering round what used to be a common rural trade/skill. Particularly if sheep were involved.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
They're familiar. I seem to recall they are for standing up a sheet of something, a photo, or glass/perspex panel? You loosen the screws to put the sheet in place then tighten them. Or providing the `feet' for something.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Close but no cigar Peter. You've got the method right but not the purpose. They are used for a very specific job. (The best clue is in the image....)

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Here's a clue, this is a key seat ruler. A clever little design that always marks a parallel line when sat on a cylindrical surface. Now look at the three objects, how would they help you achieve the same object?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Would clamping the objects on the ruler give the same shape as the key seat ruler?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
You've got it Gloria. They are made by Starret and are used to convert a ruler into a key seat rule. Well done!
Now for the next one.

Grinding yes but not tobacco or snuff - but you're right to avoid the common materials, so well done for that!
