That particular one is from Burma, (Myanmar), quite rare and I doubt if it is in Stanley's possession. :extrawink:

Its, Magnesiotaaffeite, normally truncated to Taaffeite.

A bit random in my view for a mystery object as you are more or less forced to look it up.

I'd never heard of magnesiotaaffeite before and even if I had I probably wouldn't have recognised it from that specimen. I looked it up and it occurs in a variety of colours. It was the first mineral to be identified first from a gemstone rather than the natural rough stone. :smile:
