Half moon spanners make it a lot easier to get at awkwardly placed nuts and bolts...

In the past I've 'bent' spanners for all kinds of access reasons but to buy a proprietary make would imply something like working down in a rocker box timing mechanism. Not a lot of experience on diesel engines so I can't say in this respect.

Rather than being specific, I would say they would be used whenever necessary.

I thought they might be for use on bolts inside a cylinder of some sort but why wouldn't use a socket for this? So I don't know, but I have seen them!

Everyone is right but hasn't got the usage so I shall knock it on the head. They were sold as manifold spanners because they were particularly handy for getting at the nuts on exhaust manifolds and we have all had struggles with them in the past.
Next for shaving?
