I bought Billy Joel's first album 'Cold Spring Harbor' back in 1971 just because I liked the look of the record sleeve. I loved the record and played it endlessly but never really took to his later stuff. It was many years later that I learnt that the album was recorded at a higher speed than it should have been giving Joel a high pitched voice... I must have preferred it that way!

There was a documentary on, prior to the concert, that mentioned the recording speed of that album. I only really became aware of him in the 80s, went to see him at the Manchester Arena about 12 years ago.

I wonder if it's worth anything?

I checked the 8th wonder of the world - Spotify, and find that Billy Joel LP is on there - free of charge to listen to or copy. There's nothing like having the original LP though, is there? I treasure my 55 year old Bob Dylan LP's which have had a hard life but are still playable. Amazon say about £20, but I'll be keeping them.

Its unusual for me to watch any TV but watched 'Trump Takes on the World'. Episode 1 on the BBC IPlayer I have read about most of his 'gut' feeling actions but this is the first time I've seen his body language to go along with them. You can see why his 'Put America First' struck a chord with the MAGA brigade. Interesting programme must keep an eye open for the next episodes.

I'm sorry to say that most of my TV these days comes from Youtube.
I must be getting jaded, most of the TV drama is so predictable. Perhaps I am just getting old!

Just bumped into this lady on Ch 4. Nisha Katona I'm surprised I've never heard of her. Any relation to Kerry I wonder - she hails from Ormskirk.

From Wikipedia Nisha Katona - I am left with an inferiority complex.

I looked at that CV David and have to agree with you. Apart from anything else, I assume that's a recent pic of her and she hardly looks 50 years old.

We watched the first episode of Bloodlands last night on BBC1, plenty to keep the interest.

Quite. I think the programme was about Italian cooking or something.

Step aside Heidi Allen. I have a new heroine.

********************************************

PS - she's on Sky News now as a representative of the hospitality industry, and their plight in the lockdown. "I want to open four restaurants this year."

A bit spooky I'd say. Never heard of - then twice in two days. Somethings afoot. I sense that politics beckons.

Just watched Stan and Ollie, the story of their 1953 UK theatre tour. Steve Coogan's portrayal of Stan Laurel is really good. It's on the BBC iplayer for a bit, highly recommended.

Countryfile - a lady botanist in Hackney is chalking (think hopscotch) the names of weeds she comes across on pavements and walls, to raise awareness of nature in the urban environment. It is emphasised that this is illegal and 'special permission' has been granted by the Council, and it should be sought by anyone thinking of doing it.

The final shot is against a background of a chap putting the finishing touches to a large graffiti covered wall. :laugh5:
***************************

Earlier a chap said he didn't approve on non-natives being introduced to the country as - "by the time they become a nusiance, it's too late to do anything about it". He was of course speaking of parakeets.

Illegal to chalk on pavements? Must start doing it David... But I've just realised, it means bending down..... :biggrin2:

I bet the council wouldn't complain if they inherited a bit of graffiti by Banksy. :biggrin2:

If you haven't seen the `Scotland from the Sky' programmes (2 series) then look them up, they're very good. LINK
Only series 2 seems to be available at the moment. If you get to see series 1 look out for the `Viking dock' on the Isle of Skye, it's amazing. There is a clip from it here... LINK

I watched the first instalment of Bloodlands, very good.
I see there's a new series of Line of Duty to come towards the end of the month.
