Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Sounds tasty Kev. We had poached salmon, cauliflower and broccoli topped with cream & grated cheese, plus sprouts fried in butter...
Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Cream and grated cheese, a great topping for most green things
I did sprouts with bacon on boxing day, they were good . I forgot to get the chestnuts to go with them though...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
We have loads of sprouts to get through as Col would keep buying them before Xmas even though I kept telling him that I had plenty in the garden! Good job we like them.....though most things taste good when they are fried in butter.

Did you notice the 'Veg wars' just before Christmas. Lidl have for a while used veg as a loss leader with several offerings each week, at 29p . Tesco copied this in the week before Christmas, and I was finally able to achieve my long held ambition of getting a cauliflower for less than Choudarys are selling them.
Not to be outdone - Lidl immediately dropped their veg price to 19p for the last few days.
I'm in a very similar position to Col at the moment. Luckily I like them too.
PS Do you fry them from raw, or parboil them first?

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Fry from raw Tripps though I halve or quarter them first. Col kept bringing cauliflowers home too, saying they were so cheap he had to buy them. I am just about to make some cauli soup!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Pulled some home-made leftover Lasagne from the freezer this morning. Might have it with air-fried chips.
Hopefully we will get the pantry restored tomorrow and normal kitchen service will resume. Tomorrow's lunch guests have cancelled, so that is one headache out of the way. ( we had been considering buying Fish and Chips for them and eating at the tables near the beach, because my table is full of all the pantry contents.)

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I finished the mutton and veggies. Had to extend it with some sausages but that was OK! Butcher's Day today....

I bet they would go ballistic if they knew about my husband's chocolate bullet intake too!
Crumbed Prawns tonight. Special occasion - Wedding Anniversary.
I'm not cooking them though. Tonight they will be bought. It is way too hot and windy to eat them on the beach though..

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Ah, but it raises the interesting question as to whether I am diabetic or not P. According to the docs I am 'pre-diabetic' and from my blood tests I am in better nick that them! So what I eat is governed by how I feel. An occasional bag of good crisps isn't a death sentence!
I had steak pudding and peas for dinner and black pudding and fried egg for tea followed by apple pie and cream.

I had a Scotch egg and coleslaw for dinner and the same for tea but with the addition of two small chicken legs. Apple Pie and cream for pudding! Ready for a big cook in this morning on free leccy!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Two small pork pies for dinner and the mutton and veggies came on stream for tea. Lovely! Tons of veggies and very little fat.

Sally had made a mixed bean casserole so I had a portion of that along with a roasted chicken breast.

Baked Beans.
He loves them, I am not so keen. I ate enough to satisfy my hunger, but the rest went in the bin...

We ate the same as Big Kev, a Barlick Raj Wednesday buffet. Very nice too.

Ham, Cheese and Tomato toasties tonight. ( basically because I can't be bothered cooking! I am going through another one of my can't-be-bothered-cooking stages.)
