My interest in knockers started when I lived with Vera at Hey Farm. She would always spend any money she had on the kids and her underwear was a disgrace so I bought for her. My first knicker shop was Wendy's in Frank Street, I knew her because she worked at the dairy at one time, she started my education and over the years it expanded. Betty in Ilkley used to put the coffee on when I went in..... I once went in a shop new to me in Scotland Road in Nelson and the lady said how nice it was to serve a man who wasn't a Xmas/Valentine's Day customer. She said that was usually the time when she got male buyers and she didn't have a very high opinion of them!
Today's tip: There's usually a right way and a wrong way to do even the simplest job. Ligf gets a lot easier if you take the trouble to find out the right way!

I could never trust my husband to buy my knickers. Seriously...it is best not contemplated even in the direst emergency.

I could not tolerate my husband buying me underwear either....

Nothing to do with taste Stanley, I would find it controlling. Good job we are all different eh?

Exactly.
And...if you ain't "good enough" in the underwear YOU CHOOSE to be comfortable in...I am afraid it comes under the heading of having to please another...which is another thing entirely.
Having said that - give her cash to buy her own underwear. That would be welcome. But don't buy it for her.

Not a controlling thing in our case just practicality for the job in hand. Two point suspenders are useless for swing jive dancing just not enough support. Sally had a number of accidents with the two points and had to leave the dance floor on occasion for adjustments. The eight point I found on a reproduction retro clothing website was contemporary for the era of dress we wore. They had a good line in silk stockings as well. I found the site, registered and bought, simple as that. No accidents with the right gear.

I'm surprised by the reactions. But there you are, everyone is different. I was never controlling, just caring and it was understood as that.
I remember shopping in the US for some 'tarty underwear' for my grand daughter Jess (Her request and description!) Martha was helping me and I had to educate her in what was seen as tarty by a modern teenager! Jess was delighted with my choice but Martha was horrified!
Perfume was another thing I was good at as well...
Perhaps today's tip is in matters like these, follow your instinct.

My usual advice if you have a bad back is to avoid activities that could exacerbate the condition. However.... Jack coughed last night and this morning and that's a sure sign that levels of dog hair are at an unacceptable level. So bad back or not, I shall have to vacuum this morning..... Bugger!

Not really Cathy. The danger point is carrying the vac up and down stairs. I can assure you it will be done with extreme care!

If your companion animal insists on Ball Play once a day be sure to keep the carpets hair free. If you don't the wet ball picks up hairs and they get in the dog's throat. That causes a cough and very often that triggers vomiting tea up! Why on earth do we bother? (The same thing can happen at this time of the year with him eating grass. The cure for that is usually a few drops of baby vitamins in his tea.)

Today's tip. If you are struggling with an ailment. Be patient and recognise that as you get older you don't heal as fast. Nothing you can do about it, just be kind to yourself and wait for your body to heal itself. you can trust it to do that, it just takes a while longer!

I'm just about teetotal these days, a bottle of Lagavulin will probably last me four years but every now and then the fancy strikes me to have a nip. That happened this morning so today's tip is if you fancy something like that, go for it! It's most likely your body telling you it will do you good and the body never lies......

Removing the mica waveguide cover and cleaning the remaining gravy from the exploding boil in the bag lamb shank seems to do the job

I have now ordered a replacement waveguide...

A friend of mine has just lost her 85 year old mother and is taking it hard. No body can say anything that makes things better. So today's tip is don't try. Just support them by letting them know that they are gentle on your mind.... gentle constant support is enough......

If you are lucky enough to have access to home fed dry-cured bacon, consider yourself lucky! It is light years better than the pickled pork sold as 'bacon' in supermarkets.

Our local family butcher sold good quality meat but he's just closed down. No-one wanted to continue or takeover the business. The shop was a double unit and they sold veg in the other half. It's all been bought or leased to provide offices. A shame when it's in the middle of a long-established housing estate were local shops are needed.

Like tobacconists and ironmongers the independent butcher is an endangered species. We are lucky in Barlick, we still have two.....

I have now ordered a replacement waveguide...

The new mica arrived this morning, I used the damaged one as a template and got to work with the scissors. All sorted and the sheet was big enough to make another if it happens again.

I've never tried cooking boil-in-the-bag anything (!) but would not think it safe in the microwave to cook Lamb Shanks ( bone and high fat content being volatile combo when encased in a bag)
Most spill I've had in the microwave is a ring from hubby's night time drinking chocolate...
