Being aware of your job history, my first thought was the chemist, but perhaps this is what you had in mind. Kudos boots

Works OK for us, we went to Carla's for ours. Jack and Jemma also, all the family apart from our Ruby Sally is going down to collect her on Friday and will bring her up here for a week over New Year on Saturday. We will have a gathering at our on Sunday.

I cooked breakfast on Christmas Day and we went for a curry at the Barlick Raj at 4pm. Sons tend to go to their in laws for dinner, we have youngest offspring coming today for a 'cheesy meat fest' lunch.

Kudos was the name of Boots the Chemist's own brand soap powder and washing up liquid...

So my first hunch was right, but If you had asked 'between 'Kudos and Boots' rather than 'Kudos and boots' I might have got it. Must say I've never heard of the brand though.

"...and writing maketh the precise man" as the old aphorism goes. . . .

The amazing thing it that google can find a link between two seemingly unrelated objects.

I knew Kudos was soap powder but had forgotten the Boots connection.
You've reminded me of something. John Ingoe at Rochdale Welding had a good sideline refurbishing good redundant boilers. We always had a couple in the shop and when the outside men were short of work they worked on the old boilers. A lot of them were exported to Pakistan but we installed them in the UK as well.
Occasionally, if we were getting short I used to go out furtling for redundant boilers and I found some beauties. I would go to a town and cold call on any works that had a chimney.
I think it was in Warrington I found the printing works that did the packets for Persil in the days when it was in cardboard boxes. They had samples of every design of packet they had ever printed in store. I wonder what happened to them?
Today's tip. One man's redundant boiler is another man's profit centre!

Indeed. I often think about those packets and wonder if they survived.
If and when you start dreaming about decorating the house, pull yourself together and fight any urges that arise.

You can still buy Persil soap powder but the cardboard packets are a bit more modern. My brother's first job when he left university in 1970 was with Unilever at Port Sunlight, on the management team for Persil production!

Today's tip is use as little of the modern washing and cleaning products as possible. They can't possibly be good for the environment! (Especially the biological ones....)

If and when you get fed-up with our weather, have a look at the world news and reflect that we are very lucky. No extreme events, no bush fires no devastating floods. We have much to be thankful for.

You say that, but we are sat here in shorts enjoying long warm sunsets, then we sleep naked covered only by a cotton sheet. And we do this quite comfortably for 6 months of the year.

I've spent quite long periods of time in climates like that Maz but always enjoy coming home to seasonal weather. Bob Jacobsen in Northfield once said that much of the interest in running a shop that, amongst other things, sold clothes was the changing stock for different seasons.
I once arrived back on Leeds station after a long time away and it was drizzling. I walked to the end of the canopy and stood there with my face tilted back enjoying the gentle rain. A porter was leaning on his brush and said "You've been away for a while then?" I asked him how he knew. "Three years in the Western Desert in the war. I did exactly the same thing when I got back!"
Today I remember an old Scots custom, enter the New Year debt free if possible. I reflect that this is an impossible dream for many in Britain today. If the politicians want a policy, adopt that aspiration.

Today's tip.... Setting goals both short and long term is good for a well-ordered life and that in turn is good for health. My measure of the day at bedtime is what I have accomplished.

Psychologists are very interested in that, Maz. They are trying to devise ways to help erase bad memories so they can help people with traumatic stress disorders and also find ways that we can deal with bad events when they happen.

Find someone with a 7 year old grand child. Kids can usually fix it!!

You are up early Gloria. You're quite right. Currently this is the reason why I want to get back on Whatsapp. Their preferred method of communication is Whatsapp and despite my reservations about Google and all its works I am following them as it means I have better communications with them. Very few teenagers today correspond regularly with old people! I have that privilege and want to preserve it. It's a simple trade off.

I am touched by your concern for my ethics. The kids use Whatsapp, I like talking to them, end of story.
If like me you have an old fashioned pendulum clock, regular winding and a small container with a volatile oil in the bottom inside the case will help it to give long and trouble free service.
