Re: OBITUARIES
Yesterday, local man James Wilson : Radio Broadcaster, Voice Over Artist and Local Quiz Master.
Suddenly at home. His wife Judith said that he had not been ill or suspect with the virus but in the current climate herself and her son Chris, who was at home at the time are now subject to a mandatory 14 day lock down. How awful under the circumstance.
Not sure of Jame's age but I think he was in his early 70's

Re: OBITUARIES
I've just seen the stuff about Caroline Flack in Obits. She lived in our village as a youngster. Less is more with regard to comments.

Re: OBITUARIES
So sorry to hear about Edith, a lovely woman and we always had a word when we met. Feeling for you Heather if you are reading this, I'm an orphan as well.....
Julie, dead right, I often think that's true of celebrity deaths.

Re: OBITUARIES
Eddie Large -the big half of the comedy duo Little and Large has died.
Cause quoted as Covid 19, and having had a heart transplant he must have been in a very high risk group. For me he will always be from Sid and Eddie at the Domino Cub in Grey Mare Lane Manchester in the 1960's. RIP.

Heart failure will certainly not have helped. My dad was hospitalised with a brain tumour but he officially died of an infection.

See THIS Times obituary for doctor Bill Frankland, the man who invented the pollen count and persuaded the forecasters and papers to publish it.

I remember many years ago hearing him talking about driving and he said that above all he admired the long distance wagon drivers because of the way they could hold their concentration for many hours at a time.He said that racing car drivers couldn't do it without stimulation.

`Coronavirus: Sir John Houghton dies of suspected Covid-19' LINK
Short article plus this analysis by Roger Harrabin, BBC Environment Correspondent...
`John Houghton was a towering figure in the world of climate science. He persuaded many politicians about the gravity of the risk we're taking with his calm, modest, authoritative manner. As a Christian, in later years he took on the prickly challenge of persuading US evangelist preachers that humans really could influence the climate on earth. He introduced me to the climate threat back in the late 1980s, and latterly I visited him in his Welsh home - heavily insulated, warmed by heat pump, with stupendous views over the ever-shifting Dovey estuary. A good man.'

`Monty Don reveals golden retriever Nigel has died' LINK
`Gardeners' World expert Monty Don has revealed his golden retriever Nigel has died after being "suddenly taken ill". "To the end he was happy, healthy and his usual calm, lovely self," the presenter wrote on Instagram. "He slipped quietly away with no pain or suffering and is now buried in the garden with lots of tennis balls." Viewers of the BBC Two gardening show have taken to Don's four-legged friend, about whom he wrote a book - Nigel: My Family and Other Dogs - in 2016. Nigel was frequently seen following Don around the garden with the presenter's other dog Nellie. Last year Don revealed on Twitter that Nigel had had surgery to remove some growths from his mouth. Speaking in 2016, Don revealed that Nigel had helped him through "dark periods" of depression. "If you are unwell, physically or mentally, a dog is a huge comfort," he told an audience at the Cheltenham Literary Festival...'.

I heard him on R4 yesterday talking about losing Nigel and completely agreed with his opinions about the benefits of looking after animals.
He never mentioned Nellie Cathy.
