A filled-in hole!

I photographed the image in a book and had difficulty getting the page to lay completely flat so that's probably the reason.

That's obviously right Peter but you won't be surprised to hear there's a bit more to it than that!

A lot of kitchen sink drainage pipes are 2" diameter, or 50 mm nowadays. A hole you've filled in your kitchen wall under your sink? Who else would use brass bar for the job!

Nobody is anywhere near. This is a brilliant one I reckon and you need some clues. Look at my answer to China and ask yourself exactly how much is 'much'?

I don't think anyone will get this. Dial 'Vertical Earth Kilometre' into Google. It's the end of a brass rod 1 kilometre long set vertically in the ground.
Then think of the next one!

It's art Gloria! The man who alerted me to it said that it gave him vertigo to stand and contemplate it, a feeling of standing on the brink of an abyss. I can understand that I think. (My first thought was "How does anyone know it's a kilometre long?".)

I found a picture of it in sections like drilling rig pipes. Screwed sections, easy to calculate the length.

My question would be, why is it so special? There are thousands of commercial examples around the planet and many a lot longer than a puny 1km. :extrawink:

I remember as a lad going to Leeds art gallery with my mum and seeing a 9" nail in a block of wood with a golf ball glued on the head of the nail. It was called "Moon" and the bloke who dreamt up the "art" wanted £6,000 for it! :laugh5:

I agree and I'm with Gloria here.

My first thought was that it was Schrodinger's brass rod and the depth could be anything, but seemimgy there were witnesses. Germany would be the last place I'd have guessed at for location.

It seems this guy has some form with Brass rods

Needs counselling at a minimum, I'd say.
