They are not big on IT Peter, they just use the PayPal facility that the site already has for donations. We messaged Peter directly on their Facebook page and made the payment by PayPal. Ours were delivered by Peter who wove them, I suppose there will be an agreed rate for postage if you contact them.

Might be a bit grainy, but this pic (from today’s newspaper) shows the new Amazon palm-recognition payment system.
It’s called the “Amazon One devise” and it uses biometrics (the lines and veins in your hand) to create a “unique palm signature” thats matched to a card that Amazon has on file.
You’re done and dusted in 300milliseconds.
I the article Amazon said it chose to use palm-scanning because people “consider it more private “ than say eye-scanning or facial recognition.

I’m still getting used to my Tap and Go card which I only got because shops weren’t happy to accept cash because of COVID-19

I am not happy with Amazon at the moment Cathy. They tell me they have delivered my book on Salmon but they haven't and their link for flagging a problem up is worse than a sick headache. I shall wait to see if it resolves itself, wrong doorstep or computer error?

Later, I had another crack at Amazon and got into their chat programme. I got an answer, the 'delivered' message is almost certainly an error (Even though it even gave the time, 19:15). I have been asked to wait and if it doesn't arrive, contact them again on Wednesday. Very quick and slick.

"Very quick and slick."
And totally wrong!

It has just arrived. It has been sat on the doorstep of a neighbour since 19:15 last night and the packaging was water soaked. The book was damp but I micro-waved it multiple times on low settings and now it is on a radiator. It will be OK. (None of the pages are stuck together.)
I shall keep stum. The driver must have been working all day with too many packages and I was unlucky. I don't want to give Amazon a stick to beat him with!

An hour on the radiator got rid of the remaining moisture but the covers and pages had bowed a bit so I popped it under Newton's heavy little lump of an engine. It was straight last night but I shall leave it until it's had 24 hours under the press! The book is no worse for all of this except for a small oil stain on the back cover, must have picked it up off the engine. Not what I would have wanted but there you are, it is what it is, a slightly battered but readable copy of a good book. :biggrin2:

Right on Maz! I like my 20gm of dark chocolate with orange after my tea. Never more than that. There are nutrients in chocolate you don't get anywhere else so it is part of my policy of having a varied diet. :biggrin2:

Lagavulin 16 year old single malt Scotch whisky Cathy. It's very nearly empty. A bottle lasts me for almost 3 years and I have 3 more in the Vatican cellar all free bottles that were given to me in the days when Roy Prenton was editor of the local paper and made sure I got one every Xmas. It stopped when he left. (LINK)
I couldn't afford to buy it. But I think I might have enough to last me out!

Your experience with the Amazon book reminds me of the hard disk recorder we ordered from them some years ago which didn't arrive and the courier company insisted had been delivered correctly. They gave the driver's description of the house - and it was totally different from our house. Eventually a lady who lived in a little cottage half a mile away brought it to us and said she found it left in her garage which was always open and fronts the lane.

I have long been intrigued to know just how the BBC manages to have so many bum connections when speaking to interviewees on air. From what they have said in the past the drop-outs ore always online, they often repair them by using a copper wire telephone. Yesterday I'm sure I heard one interviewer who lost a connection refer to it being Facebook. Surely the BBC can find a better way that using FB if indeed that is what they are doing? They have the same problem quite often with accessing pre-recorded clips.
All the problems started when they installed a new System on contract, I seem to remember it was Siemens. The sooner the contract runs out and they get a better system the better.

I think they are stymied by what technology and services the interviewed person uses at their end.

Chill out and take a look at these photos that Mrs Tiz found this morning...

Fascinating pics Peter. Thanks for that. (Good anti-Corvid eye candy.)
For years the news has been dominated by Brexit, now it's the pandemic. It has completely changed my news gathering habits. I tend to avoid as much of it as possible now! Problem is of course that it's diverting attention from the really serious long term news. I leave you to determine what those items are.

Quite! The thing that came to my mind immediately was I wondered if he Knew about Kangaroo Ticks!
Peter, those Hubble pictures make you realise how insignificant we are... I look at them with awe and try to get my head around the scales we are looking at here. The light from some of those images has been travelling towards us for so long. I'll stick to my shed, I can vaguely understand most of that!
