I watched Liz Carr last night, I have always admired her for the way she attacks life regardless of handicaps. I enjoyed it and it was a good story. The Barney Ryan section of the history was the most interesting bit Wendy.

[I know all about falling asleep, that's why i like watching these things on catch up early in the evening while I am still alert.]

We’ve caught up with Dont Rock The Boat, very easy watching. Interesting to watch the competitive people amongst them.

Watched a programme about the Drax power Station last night on BBC 2. Changed from coal to wood chips over the last few years. Remarkable - the scale of the thing. Each generator weighs 300 tons, and has to be moved to be serviced. The engineering involved in maintaining them is amazing. The scale of it all was gigantic, miles of pipework, and the temperature of the water 568 degrees centigrade. What struck me was that there were many women engineers - and why not - and all the engineers seemed to have local Yorkshire accents. Apprenticeships were mentioned. There wasn't an Oxford PPE degree amongst them.

In last week's programme Keeley took us to see the blades for offshore wind turbines being manufactured and visited Hornsea 1 off the Yorkshire Coast. Well worth a watch.

“My Family, the Holocaust, and me, Robert Rinder”, was looking very promising, we’d watched about 20 mins and got a phone call which stopped proceedings, we shall watch it again in full tonight.

Queens Gambit a Netflix short series. Drama about a young girl prodigy who is in an orphanage and learns to play from the school janitor. Set in the 50's and 60's and is about her journey through the ranks and chess tournaments of the time. Fictional and addictive, you don't really need to know anything about the game the storyline holds it all.

Eric Clapton's 2019 Crossroads Guitar Festival on Sky Arts. Good stuff.

Just in case anyone wants to watch it it's on again at 02:15 Saturday 5th December. It's certainly worth recording.

I bumped into Nigella last night - just in time for a bit of Nancy Mitford type U and Non U nonsense, by emphasising that she uses 'white pepper'. I took it as a swipe at Delia, and I thought it a bit borderline racist actually.

I couldn't switch channel quick enough, but it seems that in my haste , I missed her pronouncing microwave as 'meecrowarvay' .

Strange how she's turned out - her brother's OK - big pals with Nigel Short, and her dad's sound. I bought his diet book. Easy - stop boozing and eat less seems to be the secret. Can't imagine why I didn't work that out.

I use a lot of (both) Black Pepper and White Pepper in my cooking. Different beasts entirely. Just depends what you are cooking.
And as for her fancy word for microwave, we refer to our microwave as Chernobyl.

Not sure if this should be here or in computers but Youtube had an outage yesterday afternoon and I think Google had some problems as well. (See THIS BBC report.)

I heard that some poor souls who had their lighting controlled by voice command, had to switch them on manually. Reminded me of the China Fleet Club in Hong Kong where I saw an American sailor quite unable to close the curtains when the sun was in his eyes because there was no cord to pull. :laugh5:
