But is that what you meant? Why not talk to me, Wendy? . We have had discussions before, where you have aired your thoughts and I have aired mine.

Oh Maz, I hope you don't take your bat home. OGFB is a local site, but it has interesting people from all over the World. Each of us have different views and opinions, but normal site etiquette and good manners dictates how we express these. I've overstepped the mark several times and have been gently chided. Some things are better left unsaid if it's going to be insensitive and upsetting to others.

When I asked if I should stop my daily blog, many asked me to continue. They like to read it but do not necessarily reply. I respond to those who reply. I responded to Kev yesterday. Yesterday We, that is Bob and I, visited Stanley because he was giving Bob some very heavy and expensive equipment. Of course we chatted, and of couse I thanked him this morning. What do we do, collect it, walk away, with no thanks? . We are all thankful for some socialising at the moment, and I could see Stanley really was.

I was brought up to say thank you. Stanley also gave us some local malt bread because he knew we liked it, so I thanked him for that too. That is polite not a mutual admiration society

That's a first for me, someone who wants the whole site closed down. She says it has been boring for ages and she is out of here. I think that would probably be a good thing. Her petty vindictiveness is already stopping people posting.
I've just seen Sue's post. Exactly right. I refuse to have my world spoiled by a bitter woman.

Reading back over the last few pages several people have responded to comments that I have replied to. The only post I missed was Mazs painted flowers, I am sorry I just missed that one thats all. She and I chatted about summer on its way. This forum is the chat forum, thats what we do, chat.

I don’t go on the politics, I don’t discuss politics, never have, never will. I read the local stuff and sometimes find a tit bit relevant to my family, I like the science page, ignore the coronavirus page because I read it all elsewhere. Bob goes on In the shed, a mutual interest with Stanley. I have had a number of genealogical links to people and information, plus lots of help about all sorts . Thats what the site is about. Its not a dying site, there is plenty there, but not everything every day. However over the last year the Today I shall be mainly ...has got many of us through tough times. Its our gossip and chat page ,like everyone, some chat more than others . I like to chat to Stanley, but I chat to others too.

Above all its a local site, hence its name .

This site is unique I'd say. Local - but also world wide. I love hearing about life in Australia where you have lizards and parakeets in your back yard, and I love reading about 'buy to let' in Nanning and getting there on the high speed train. I probably read every word posted except the weather - I get that by looking out of the window.

I live alone, and enjoy the space here to put my thoughts down - in the absence of anyone else to speak to. I often post impulsively, and occasionally 'late at night' - and I do a little bit of teasing now and then, but I know who can take it. I guess most of the time it's so subtle, they don't realise they have been teased. I try to avoid any personal criticism of anyone. It's so easy to offend in print, with no facial body language to mitigate the comments.

I am sure that face to face there would be no problems.

I also don't post anything personal that I don't want the whole world to know. There's lots going on that I'd love to talk about, and I've been mortally tempted at times, both good news and bad, but resisted. I use the maxim which Ted Ray the comedian (remember him?) once said - "don't tell people your troubles - half don't care and the other half are glad".

I don't really understand why it doesn't attract more people but so be it. We'll survive.

Has Maz 'flounced' (again) ? If so that's a shame. I have a feeling she'll be back. Hope so.

'Flounced'.... Trust you David to come up with a word that grabs my attention. I went for a furtle....
"To depart in a haughty, dramatic way that draws attention to oneself." Probably of North Germanic origin, from Norwegian flunsa (“hurry”), perhaps ultimately imitative. Or, perhaps formed on the pattern of pounce, bounce

Never looked for the dictionary definition - it just seemed right - and boy was it ever. :laugh5:

It's a good word :good:

I have tried to be very careful in what personal details I post, with the Medical Matters it was to highlight the issue of prostate cancer (there, I've said it) and to hopefully encourage men to not ignore symptoms. I won't mention it again, honest.

I wasn’t going to say why we went to Stanleys yesterday, it was between him and us, but I felt I was forced into saying why. Not that it is an issue . Hey ho.

I'm with you Kev, cant see the point of shaving them off and then painting them back on. Some of the girls don't do themselves any favours and they make themselves look like aliens.

Got one of these in Aldi today. P has taken up painting by numbers, keeps her out of mischief while I'm working, but the numbers are so small she was having to use a hand held magnifying glass.
A bargain at £20

Carrying on pursuing the Stuart 10H in the shed plus normal activities but no shopping, C arl delivered the meat last night and we will survive for another week!
I think I should point out that the 'heavy and expensive equipment' was some tackle for boiler testing and safety checks at the Rochdale Model Engineering Society. So he was doing his public service bit also by doing the transport.

Morning

I could do with one of those magnifiers Kev, for when I am unpicking seams, a frequent event!

Its mighty dull, damp and misty out there, and I think it has just started to rain for a change. Nicely in time for me to dry the bedding (not) when I change it in a few minutes. Its the last of my washing this week so I will pop it the dryer so I can also .....oops hold that thought, I have just realised its Saturday and not Sunday. Bedding changing tomorrow Bacup market this morning. Must get up in a minute so we can get there early. I need a bag of compost today as I have run out. Yesterday I planted out my chard, some more sweet peas and a pumpkin plant. I need the space for my last few runner beans and sweet corn germinating in the airing cupboard. We walked down to the bank afternoon and did a long circuit back, just over 4 miles. It was nice to get out. My zoom meeting never happened as I failed in my attempts to log on. Others managed eventually

Today we need to clean, after the market and our croisant and coffee. Bob usually gives it all a good hoover whilst I wet clean and dust. Then its a day of indoor activities, probably some sewing but may get my summer clothes out of the loft and put my thick and Christmas jumpers away. Now tgere is wishful thinking

Have a good day everyone .hope you know it is Saturday, unlike me :laugh5:
