Living in a Faraday Cage at the bottom of a mineshaft might help. :extrawink:

I had a thought as we go up the hill to the next Solar Maximum. I wonder how the hundreds of Elon Musk's Star Link broadband satellites which are all relatively small units will fare in the onslaught to come? Larger comms satellites can be commanded into "safe parking" orientations for the big events, good luck with the little ones that are a lot less mobile and just in fixed orbit.

A massive solar event in 1989 took out the power in half of Canada.

Yesterday was strange weather, brighter than forecast but even under blue sky we had light rain. At 20:00 we had hard snow showers but then the sky cleared overnight. Still calm and clear first thing this morning but could be clouding over now. The glass is up on 1012mb. The forecast is for heavy rain all day. The WSW wind will become brisk and gust to 50mph giving us a high of 7C and a low of 4C with a -6C chill at times. The outlook is for similar unsettled weather.

Yesterday was cold wet and windy and at 20:00 it was still the same. First thing this morning nothing had changed and I have just popped outside. Guess what! Still cold wet and windy. The glass is down below 995mb and still falling. The forecast is for heavy rain until later this morning when it will change to bright intervals and showers. The brisk west wind backs to WNW this afternoon and gusts to 50mph giving a high of 5C a low of 1C and a wind chill this afternoon of -7C. It will never feel warmer than freezing all day. The outlook is for slightly milder weather but unsettled and wet.

Heavy rain for most of last night, stopped now and seems to be brightening up. Been out to fill the bird feeders up and it’s milder than yesterday.

Yesterday we had very cold wind and rain in the afternoon which cleared up by 20:00 when it was calm, cold and we had a clear sky. Same first thing this morning and still no change. The glass is up on 1016mb and rising. The forecast is for it to cloud over shortly and remain cloudy all day with light rain possible after 14:00. The moderate wind starts as WNW and ends as WSW tonight, it will gust to 40mph later tonight and gives us a high of 8C and a low of 7C but with as much as -5C chill which means that for much of the day it will feel very cold. The six day forecast is for dryer weather, gradually cooling and some frosts later in the week.

It did it to me again! Started raining just before I went out for a walk. This morning I put the Schoffel jacket on and went anyway and the above pic is proof I did it! There must be money in bathrooms, a new shop front going in.....

According to Victoria Plum, the average cost of installing a new bathroom in the UK is £6,500. I replaced the bathroom at Park Street in 2011, bath with shower over and glass screen, toilet, sink, tiles, vinyl floor, new radiator and lighting cost me around £1200 and fitted it myself. There's definitely money to be made in bathrooms.

Yesterday afternoon it was wet and cold, still raining at 20:00. First thing this morning, breezy mild and overcast. The glass is steady on 1016mb. The forecast is for rain all day but it's not started yet. The constant WSW wind is brisk and gusts to 40mph giving a high of 9C and a low of 5C with a chill of -4C this morning. The six day outlook is brighter but colder weather.
Later at 06:00. The wind has risen but no sign of the rain yet....

I ignored the fine wetting rain and walked to the pharmacy to sort out my prescription. Little things like this are nit running as smoothly as they did pre-Covid and I find that I have to be a nuisance.

Ian, that's the system I use but it doesn't work if your present tranche of scripts has finished and the surgery haven't put the next 12 month tranche in place. :biggrin2:
Yesterday we had fine wetting rain all afternoon and it was the same at 20:00. It seems to have rained all night but is dry and overcast at the moment. The forecast is for it to remain dry and for sunny spells all day. The constant westerly winds are brisk and gust to 30mph at times. The high is 6C, the low 1C and we will have a -4C chill all day. The outlook is for similar weather tomorrow and Friday then two days wet weather Saturday and Sunday.

It’s rained none stop since late yesterday afternoon and it’s left a lot of low lying water about. Now fine and hopefully will stay like this.

Yesterday was dry and bright. At 20:00 the moon was showing but veiled in cloud. During the night it was clear but first thing this morning it was breezy, dry and overcast. The glass is steady on 1015mb. The forecast is for sleet showers shortly and further light showers this afternoon. The brisk westerly wind gusts to almost 40mph and gives a high of 4C and a low of -2C tonight with a -5C chill all day which means it will feel below freezing all day. The outlook is for broken weather, warmer but very wet at times. It may not be snowing but it's winter!

Yesterday afternoon the main feature was the bitter wind. By 20:00 it had fallen and the sky was starting to clear. During the night a clear sky and the same this morning, calm, clear and cold. The glass is up on 1025 and rising. The forecast is for a dry day, clear and sunny until late morning and then clouding over. The light, mainly southerly wind, gives us a high of 5C and a low of 3C with -4C chill at times. The outlook is warmer but wet and windy.

Yesterday afternoon was as per the forecast, overcast and cool but very light wind so not a lot of wind chill. At 20:00 it was breezy cool and overcast. Same first thing this morning and no change since. The forecast is for heavy rain to start soon and last all day. The wind is a constant brisk WSW gusting to over 40mph and will last all day. It gives a high of 5C and a low of 3C with a chill of -6C in the strongest gusts. The outlook is for similar unsettled weather but nothing you could describe as wintry. We are doing very nicely.....

It started to rain at 08:30 but at 10:30 it was dry so I snatched a walk. It was dry but a very blustery cold wind, by the time I got back home it was raining. I think we had a West coast forecast but East coast weather.....
Later at 13:30... Unusually, I have been out for a second time, I had a letter to post. Very light rain blowing on a strong wind and the wind chill is bad enough to give you face ache. I'm back inside and glad to stay here!

Yesterday was damp and cold in that strong wind, We ended the day with heavier rain and by 20:00 it was windy overcast , wet and cold. This morning it's a bit quieter and not raining but the forecast is for heavy rain to come in shortly and persist all day. 'Improving' to cloudy later tonight. The glass fell all day and this morning is on 999mb. The southerly wind is slightly less than yesterday but still breezy. The high is 8C and the low 4C with a chill of -5C when the wind is strongest. The six day outlook is very unsettled, we could be in double figures by Wednesday.
