The SOLR process has moved thousands to a few of the bigger suppliers, OVO, EON_Next and Shell have picked up quite a few recently. The only one that wasn't moved to another supplier is Bulb as it's not viable to shift 1.7 million loss making accounts...

Lord Agnew (no me neither) has just resigned - to a round of applause - in the House of Lords over inaction concerning fraud.
"Agnew also alleged that “schoolboy errors” were made by officials and lenders, noting that over 1,000 companies who received bounce back loans (BBLS) were not trading before the pandemic began."
That looks like a bit of a giveaway (no pun intended honestly) to me . .
Well done I'd say - a bit of principle on show for a refreshing change.
Looks like bad news for Sunak, who just wrote off a lot of the losses - and it will no doubt be Sue Gray's next enquiry.
Well worth a look. . .

Boris Johnson on BBC's Booktalk in 2006 (as quoted today by Laura Kuenssberg in an article on `Why Boris Johnson is coming out fighting': BBC News )....
"I've got a brilliant new strategy, which is to make so many gaffes that nobody knows which one to concentrate on. They cease to be newsworthy, you completely out-general the media in that way, and they despair...You shell them, you pepper the media... you've got to pepper their positions with so many gaffes that they're confused....It's like a helicopter throwing out chaff, and then you steal on quietly and drop your depth charges wherever you want to drop them."

See THIS clip of Conservative MP Huw Merriman telling Martha Kearney he is "deeply troubled" following the resignation of senior Downing Street aides, as Boris Johnson faces more questions over his leadership. During his answer he says 'Ship up or shape out'.

I suspect many in public service are feeling that way after the cuts of the last ten years. It's a shameful record, not reason to boost our buffoon PM.

Quote of epic stupidity from Ben Wallace the Defence Secretary -
"Mr Wallace, heard chatting with serving military personnel at the Horse Guards building in Westminster, said the Russian president had gone "full Tonto" with his escalation of tensions with Ukraine.
He said Mr Putin has made the mistake of having no allies in his actions, comparing him to Tsar Nicholas I during the Crimean War.
The Cabinet minister said there are 1,000 British military personnel on stand-by to respond to the Ukraine crisis, adding: "The Scots Guards kicked the backside of Tsar Nicholas I in 1853 in Crimea - we can always do it again." He continued: "Tsar Nicholas I made the same mistake Putin did... he had no friends, no alliances."
He should resign or be sacked.

Thanks David. I heard a bit of that but was taking no notice as I had other fish to fry. You are right, he is a fool. I said the other day when I listened to him banging on about something, typical officer class, says everything loudly and with authority because that means he can hide his ignorance.

In response to Vladimir Putin’s stated goal of “demilitarisation" and "denazification" of Ukraine the country's President Zelensky, who is Jewish, asked: "How could I be a Nazi?".

Heard on the news this morning. A man queuing to volunteer for the militia in Kiev was asked what he expected and here's what he said.
"The horizon of our expectations is short, no longer a matter of days, it could be hours."

Following Zelensky's "How could I be a Nazi?" comment to Putin the Russian leader is now accusing the Ukrainians of being `neoNazis and drug addicts'. The man's losing his marbles and it all agrees with US politician Marco Rubio's saying that the intelligence agencies have noted Putin's decision-making seems to have deteriorated.

That may well be true Peter, and in a normal world this would indicate his imminent replacement. But we aren't in a normal world and one wonders what he will do next. The possibilities are horrifying....

Wise words from Delia Smith -
‘I have never watched The Great British Bake Off. I just can’t do it. I can’t do Strictly Come Dancing either. I can’t do all this screaming and hugging and all this emotion and stuff. Just not my scene.’

Couldn't agree with her more David. I remember watching what was described by the commentators as 'an outpouring of emotion' when Diana died, I thought it was mass hysteria and came to the conclusion it was perhaps because people led such sheltered lives and had no experience of real stress. Now they are watching an actual war and in Europe, they might start to reassess.
Or perhaps not, they have to signal to those round them that they are aware and on trend....

At the time I couldn't help thinking that if people could be manipulated by media headline God help us if we get someone in power starts to use these 1984 tactics to get their way. Then Boris Johnson arrived. Prophecy fulfilled.
Re: QUOTE OF THE DAY. TRIPPS ORIGINAL
This from the subject of today's Bob's Bits. An essay 'On Canibals' by Montaigne in 1580. I think that pre dates the 'Interweb thingy'.
"Our eyes are bigger than our bellies, and we have more curiosity than capacity.
We grasp at all but clutch nothing but wind. . ."
True for me indeed, and I have been moved to thank Uncle Bob by email. (PS and got a reply within 90 minutes !)
As Cathy says - I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here.
