WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Anyone planning on using the bus, between Barlick and Colne, Thursday 17/03/22 and Friday 18/03/2022 between 09:00 - 15:00 might want to make alternative arrangements.
The A56, through Foulridge, will be closed in both directions for resurfacing. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Here's a happy snap for you. The Old Fart with his daughters on the sofa yesterday. We had a lovely long natter and all three of us are going out together next Wednesday.

Ah there you all are.
Probably the best pic of you three together yet.

That's what they said Cathy and I pointed out that was because I had taken it.....
(I think you could be right....)(
I've pointed out to them that our combined ages come to more than 200 years!

I'm very lucky. We were saying yesterday that we couldn't imagine what it would be like if we didn't like each other.... (It happens!)

Following numerous announcements, from LCC, that the A56 through Foulridge would be completely closed today and tomorrow. It's not. There is a single lane running with traffic control at either end.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Much discussion about where we go. At the moment the favourite seems to be Saltaire.....
Here's a good line for you..... When we were talking about it I said "the last time I visited Saltaire was when Robert and I went to look into buying it". I remember that James Mason's wife gave a very bad impression at the meeting. (He was a big investor in the firm of Titus Salt)
What is happening today is that Margaret is taking me on a search for a decent short coat, I fancy tweed.... Exciting and an expression of optimism about my future! (I have no doubt the price will horrify me.....)

The amount of Facebook users posting derogatory comments, on P&O Cruises page, despite being told numerous times they're a different company to P&O Ferries. I suspect a rebrand may be on the cards in the not too distant future.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
A nice day out and the fact I bought a new coat and waistcoat. The price was horrendous of course. This is a £700 coat reduced to a bargain £450.... The waistcoat cost £300. Both tweed but waterproof, modern cloth technology....Goretex lined. Margaret will take it for the sleeves to be shortened.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
You look great in it! When they shorten the sleeves ask them for the offcuts - at the 700 quid price for the coat the offcuts could become an alternative to cryptocurrency!

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I wore it for my walk today and it is exactly right. One of my mates saw me and commented immediately, he even had an idea what it cost as he is hankering after one.... I think this might be a case of you get what you pay for!

The 10 year old phones are wearing out so I ordered some new ones, I'm intrigued by Amazon's product comparison

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
When we went over to VOIP. I rushed out and bought a pair of Panasonic phones, I really wanted three but nobody had any in stock. When I brought them home the wire to the router was only 1 metre long so it had to sit in the converted office / bedroom. Moving it into the master bedroom meant extra long wire and a lot of fusing about. The secondary phone sat where we spend most time but the ring tone is so quiet its hardly noticeable above the radio and impossible to hear when you move even a small distance away. You can of course carry in around with you if you're expecting a call. So one way or another after banging your head on the wall in despair at missing calls its not surprising that Amazon are offering some pain relief for associated injuries.

Why do 'mussels' need joint relief gel?
Later, I realised that the cause of the brown ring on the worktop for the last few days is a pinhole leak in the bottom of my old white enamelled brew can that has served me well for many years and is still used every morning to brew my coffee. No way to repair it so I have ordered a new one Immediately!

Plaques, why not increase the ring volume?
Stanley, I like your quip about the mussel gel. But don't let a New Zealander hear you making jokes about the green-lipped mussel. It's a prized NZ speciality, rich in omega3 fatty acids. When I was at a lipids conference in NZ the opening reception had a buffet meal and the word went around that there would be green-lipped mussels. The New Zealanders got to them first and there were none left for the rest of us!

It has made the news that someone has bought an amazingly expensive new coat - and why shouldn't he?

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
David, Putin's coat is nowhere near as good as mine, all those puffer coats leak through the stitching.....
Kev, I was started on my two sleep regime by the fact I had to start so early in the morning and my trips were generally about 3 hours long so when I got there I used to have a sleep. Over the years I got very good at going to sleep at any time of the day. Now I am retired and can suit myself I prefer 20:00 to 03:00 first sleep and 08:30 to about 11:00 for second sleep.
When I was running the Ellenroad project I used 5AM to 8AM as my time to do correspondence and administration. It's amazing what you can get done when you are not being interrupted! I could do more in those three hours than many others did all day.
