Sue, I have to have a lie down in a dark room every time I read about all the things you do! I always have a long list of things I should be doing....

Just burned over 2,500 images on a DVD for Tony the Bancroft volunteer. I shall post them to him at dinnertime.
I think I'll just have a quiet read......

Coime on Wendy, how many hours do you spend with your animals and veggie patch. I'd be useless at that committment. Wendy Margaret and I are off to the Lakes next week for a painting course. Hope the weather improves

Sounds wonderful Sue, say hello to Wendy M for me, it seems ages since the last time you were both here though I'm still finding traces of pastel dust on the floor!
A morning down in the history society's Heritage Room in Earby for me today helping to re-organise the archives in their new home. We are planning an opening event in early September, to be combined with the launch of Stephanie Carter's latest book "Getting Better...a look back at healthcare in Earby" which has just arrived back from the printers and looks like an excellent read.

Going to visit my mum in Leeds and hoping there isn't too much flooding. I usually go via Ilkley & Otley but that road can get flooded where it runs beside the Wharf. Think I will go through Shipley instead.

Today I am going to do my washing as it looks like a good drying day, followed by a little horizontal gardening with a good book. Sorry to rub it in folks. Eileen

Seeing what can be done to restore my wind battered garden, picking up muck from the ponies field and ironing whilst watching F1. I'm looking forward to watching Countryfile this evening as there is an item from Berkeley Castle, where back in the mists of time I worked as a "nursery governess" to the two Berkeley children for a while. My room was in the ancient circular keep not far from where Edward II met his rather unpleasant death back in the 14th c.

Going to have a look at the Olympic torch through Skipton, not decided whereabouts to view yet, waiting for feedback from spies on the ground.

"picking up muck from the ponies field and ironing " Couldn't help think of Catgate when I read that  He'd have pounced on it a while ago.

Sorry to hear about you veg. I sent the "before" pictures to my son who is a first year allotment student, with the caption "This is how it should be done". He's having a struggle, with the rain cold and weeds. He said yesterday that everything seems to have been eaten - Oh yes said I - that'll be slugs - I forgot to tell you about them.

Oh dear Tripps, so glad you are there to pick up my poor grammar. Mind you, ironing the droppings could be quite a useful thing to do, I could end up with a stack of dry muck pancakes to burn on the woodburner...mmm...I would have to use an old flat iron as the steam iron could get a bit messy!
Tell your son that I have escaped the slugs so far because the deep beds were only built last year. I have already imported some slugs into the tunnel this year with my compost. The greenfly are yet to come, then the caterpillars.....

making a start on cleaning the van. We are heading home Sunday 08 and we are renting out for the summer school holidays. Love kids but not 100's of them at once. Still got a couple of weeks to fill but not worried about that. Eileen

You may come back to a bit of summer!
Today I shall be completing the harvesting of pics for the kids. In the days when I was doing the pics they sometimes got fed up of Dad documenting their lives but I have an idea they now realise how lucky they are. The pics are a real trip down Memory Lane. What's a pic like this worth forty years on?

Nice photo Stanley. Are you looking forward to being back at home Eileen?
Colne Library for me this morning, then if it is dry outside this afternoon I need to get my containers planted up with summer bedding..better late than never. The hens have been using my big trough as a dust bath, so I will have to cover everything with netting till the plants get established.
If it is raining, then I can get on with my Procter family at LBH Farm research.

Hello Wendy
Yes and No. Look forward to seeing the grandchildren. Very hot and humid last couple of days. Sun just about broke through but weather marginally better than home I think Eileen

Weather not too good in the Lakes but Wendy Margaret and I are too busy to notice. The Art is being very productive. Bob is in France and tells me he has picked 4 buckets of broad beans, not counting the 'no good' ones. We must get that new chest freezer in France.

I hope you have managed to rescue your veggie patch Wendy

It was recovering well on Tuesday Sue..... Wendy, the phrase I was looking for in wind damaged plants and broken bones is 'constructive stress'. What doesn't kill them makes them stronger and quicker to heal.
