Well done Kev, you got there in the end. It's an Eze Lap diamond hone. This is the fine one and it lives in the kitchen now to put an edge on my knives. I have had a set of three for about ten years now, they last a long time. I just bought three new ones and that brought this to mind.

Looks like RAF colour so perhaps for aircraft - and I doubt very much if the Queen Mary would fit on it.

Kev is right, they were called Queen Marys because of the size. The tractor is a Bedford with a 28hp GM petrol engine.

Looking at that picture and seeing the HP of the tractor unit I cant help thinking that my 1100 Pan European motorbike had nearly four times as much grunt in that department (100hp)

Ian, sorry but you evidently don't know about RAC Horsepower ratings (LINK) which were based on cylinder capacity. Besides the use for taxation it was widely used as a quick reference, think Austin 7, Ford 8 Vauxhall 10 and 14. The General Motors 28hp design was 214 Cubic Inch and produced about 106hp. As this was at a lower speed than your engine and a larger capacity it was much higher torque.
As for the mystery object, sorry nothing comes to mind.....
But.... Having seen Kev's response I agree with him, my LEDs in the light sabre torch look very much like that.
