When Sue said it had snowed in Rochdale I popped out to have a look and yes, we have had a very light fall down here....

Yesterday afternoon managed to stay snow free in Barlick and by 20:00 it was calm and clear. This morning we have a mainly clear sky but with some scattered cloud and a growing mist here on the ground. The glass is up slightly on 1005mb. The forecast is simple, clear and cloudy. The very light wind starts in the East and later moves into the West giving a high of 1C and a low of -5C with a constant -2C chill. There is no change in the outlook, very similar weather for at least a week....

Back after a walk round the Xmas Fair in Town Square. I bought a cheese and onion pie to support the local economy and I'm gong to have it for dinner with some veggies and gravy. Lots of people there which is good.
It's cold out there but no wind which is good. I see from reports of weather at other places all round us that there is quite a lot of snow about. Thankfully we have been lucky so far but it is a very heavy overcast.....

Yesterday managed to stay snow and fog free so I think we were lucky. At 20:00 we had a clear sky with a brilliant moon and scattered cloud. This morning it is calm, we appear to have a thin overcast and it is very cold. The glass is almost unchanged, just up a touch to almost 1006mb. The forecast is for early mist then clear with full sun for much of the day. The Easterly winds will be very light and give a high of 0C and a low of -3C tonight. At the moment we have -7C. The outlook shows no change from this dry cold weather.

I heard Cambridge mentioned in the forecast this morning as one of the coldest parts of the country. Commiserations David. I've just shoved my head out after second sleep. I was considering a walk. But it's foggy and bitter cold so I shall stay indoors and coddle my self. I recommend you do the same!

Yesterday it stayed dry but cold and clouded. At 20:00 it was calm, very cold and a light overcast. This morning it's the same. The glass is unchanged and steady on 1006mb The forecast is cold dry and overcast with perhaps a glimpse of the sun this afternoon. The Easterly winds are light and give us a high of 0C and a low of -5C with a -3C wind chill most of the day. It's -5C at the moment. The outlook is for it to get warmer from Friday onwards..... We may be coming to the end of this frost.
Later at 05:30. -17C in Braemar and foggy in Barlick.....
A bit later than that we had a very light snow shower.

Yesterday stayed dry but cold and at 20:00 we had a clear sky and a hard frost. First thing this morning it was calm and very cold under a clear sky but with a thin layer of cloud. It's still the same.... The glass is down slightly on 1004mb. The forecast is for a clear sunny day but very cold. The constant light NW wind gives us a high of -1C, a low of -6C and a wind chill of -4C. Allowing for wind chill we will get as cold as -9C later today. The outlook is for another day like this tomorrow but then a rapid warm-up from Friday onwards. It looks as though Atlantic weather is going to get the upper hand.....

I have been a brave boy and had my morning walk and a sit on traffic duty. It's bloody cold and even the Crombie with a fleece shirt under it could only protect for about ten minutes sat on the bench at the end of Albert Road. Back in the warm now and feeling better for the exercise....

Yesterday stayed cold and clear at 20:00 it was calm clear and an iron frost. This morning was the same first thing and hasn't cleared. The glass is up a shade on just below 1007mb. The forecast is exactly the same as yesterday, clear all day and full dun. The constant NW wind is light and gives a high of 1C and a low of -5C with a chill of -3C. The temperature at the moment is -9C. The outlook is for two more cold days but then a change to warmer weather. On Monday we can expect double figures! Tropical.... (Just for comparison, 31C in Perth..... :biggrin2: )

I've been out into Town Square for some veggies that are better at Chaudrey's than in the Co-op. £1.49 for a cauli but I don't begrudge it, imagine harvesting cauliflowers in a wide open field over in Lincolnshire this week. I wouldn't like to do it. No sit, too cold for that. Glad to be back inside.....

Yesterday was another re-run of the day before and at 20:00 we had a calm clear night and it was already very cold. ( The toggle that Kev gave me for correcting Caps Lock errors is brilliant! Thanks again Kev!)
This morning first thing it was the same and there has been no change. The glass is up on 1013mb and rising. The forecast is for a mainly clear day but sunny spells and cloud during daylight hours. The constant SSW wind is light to moderate giving us a high of 2C and a low of -1C with a wind chill of up to -4C this afternoon when the wind rises slightly. During the night there is a change and the outlook is for warmer weather, tomorrow and Sunday will be above freezing and Monday promises us a tropical 12C! I shall believe it when I see it.

I'm happy to report that the veggies are cooked and cooling before being loaded into the fridge. No walk and sit but the time hasn't been wasted.. It's a relatively good day out there, plenty of sun and no snow. Not looking forward to the rain tomorrow and Sunday but it will be worth it when the weather warms up. We are better off with Atlantic weather than Arctic!

Yesterday afternoon got a bit dark at one point but we had no snow in Barlick. At 20:00 it was calm clear and very cold. First thing this morning it was noticeable that although still clear we had a breeze, It still looks clear but I have an idea we have some scattered cloud. The glass is up on 1012mb. The forecast is for it to start to snow soon and then quickly become rain. Some rain will freeze on hard surfaces below freezing, there is a yellow warning for ice until 10:30. The wind is a brisk SW gusting to 30mph and giving a high of 3C and a low of -1C with a wind chill of -4C at the moment. Much warmer than of late. The outlook is for a similar day tomorrow and then much warmer and brighter as we go into Xmas week.
Later. I note that the forecast has been refined giving more chance of snow and a later start to precipitation of 06:00.
07:00. Nothing has fallen yet......

Yesterday afternoon ended up dry but breezy. At 20:00 we had a cold wind and an almost clear sky. This morning first thing we had a breeze and again an almost clear sky but less cold than of late. The glass is up a touch on 1014mb. The forecast is for an overcast day with rain later and includes an amber warning for ice and possible snow. The constant ESE wind is moderate and gives us a high of 1C and a low of -1C tonight with as much as -5C chill. It will still be cold today, well below freezing but tomorrow we are promised 12C! The rest of the week will be warm and wet compared to the last fortnight.

You can say that again Cathy and then there is the wind chill. At the moment it's -5C. Makes a big difference. At the moment it's -5C effectively out there. (And I don't know how they arrived at that 8C! The warmest it will get is 1C.)

The Met Office weather app shows 7 degrees around midnight tonight. The 'warm up' starting around 6pm.

This is the forecast at midday today
