Aye, Barlic Bites had the front door broken in and the safe emptied, I don't have any details for the Co-op other than that they were waiting for the police the other morning. The 'vape' shop, on Rainhall Roas was also broken into a couple of weeks ago.

I'd forgotten Leo's.....
On another matter. Liam was right about the new carpet being warmer and I'll swear it's cut down on what was a very low level of noise before....

Just popped out to Tesco. They are short of nowt now. All is back to normal. I got the required eggs, and vine tomatoes. They were price matched to Aldi which is good. They've closed the fresh fish and meat counters, and the cooked chicken stall. I'd have done it about five years ago. Saw three Tesco staff ladies having an in depth gossip in one of the aisles - confirmed my theory that Aldi staff do two (at least ) jobs, and Tesco employees do half a job.

Little incident in the car park. Couldn't get into the car as a chap had parked a bit close to my driver's door. We were both within the white lines, but I need it wide open. Then I saw he had only just arrived, and was still in his car, so I had a word about my plight, and he immediately volunteered to move to the next bay.
Nice. . .

It's warmer and quieter in the kitchen now my new carpet is down..... I didn't believe Liam when he told me it would be.
I heard THIS in the news last night. It's so sad and not capable of being understood by ordinary people.
The remains of a baby have been found by police searching for the missing child of Constance Marten and Mark Gordon. The discovery in an area of woodland came as hundreds of officers and volunteers were scouring a 90 square mile area near Brighton. The couple disappeared in early January and were arrested earlier this week. They are being held on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.

I've just been listening to Euphemia being interviewed on BBC Today.
What a sweetie, good to see why Matt Hancock gave her access to everything!

Gina Coladangelo was Hancock's aide. (lady friend) . Isabel Euphemia (Effie) Oakeshott is the lady who spilt the WhatsApp beans on Hancock.

And I don't watch TV 'Who Done It' drama.

Back in the local forest. I intended to have a quick trip to Aldi yesterday so got my bag and jumped in the car as I intended a bit bigger shop than I could comfortably carry.

Key in, turn to start, nothing but the solenoid trying to engage the starter! I noticed the last time I used the car a couple of days earlier that it was a bit lazy starting so I gave it a bit of run before switching it off on it's return. Looks like the battery is not holding charge. I had to get my mate Neil to pop round and give me a jump start, despite parking on a slope a bump start is not an option in an automatic! Cracked up without problem and I ran it down to KB's. They are a bit throng but may be able to get to it today. It's in the right place now at least.

Sorry Wendy, I used it because David pointed out that she has deleted it from her Wiki Page. Both of us had it down as a good example of parents giving a child a pretentious name.

That's interesting. You set me off on a search, not only Google and family history sites but the deep recesses of my memory banks!
My great friend and neighbour in Scotland, Joanna, had a maternal aunt called Euphane, who I met a couple of times in the early 80s. I could remember that she was Lady something or other but the second name wouldn't come to mind. I didn't even know how Euphane was spelt, I thought it was Euphon.
I was struggling to find anything at all, not even a marriage for Joanna's parents to find that elusive maiden name. It eventually popped into my head that the aunt was Lady Dunlop but was that just a title?
I intended to go outside to attempt some garden tidying but the search won! I discovered that Joanna's middle name is Euphane too but haven't got much further than that. I did remember that historian, tv presenter and author Dr Tessa Dunlop is a close relative and ended up reading a blog of hers about her relationship with her aging mother who lives alone at Loch Rannoch. Fascinating!
I think my brain has stopped churning now but Euphane, which is similar to Euphemia, was obviously a family name and you wouldn't come across a less pretentious family.

That is interesting Wendy and yes, you are probably right and David and I are being a tad judgmental. Mind you, the other names that sprang to both our minds were those of Jacob Rees Mogg's children, we could be permitted for suspecting pretension there.... :biggrin2:
(I've realised since that David was referring to Jacob's sister Annunziata Mary.)

Indeed - generalisation is dangerous territory - but a bit of fun.

I didn't know it was Annunciata Mary Rees Mogg. Even more pretentious. "The Angel of the Lord appeared unto Mary . . . " Subtle hints of something there. Have you ever wondered why the Blessed Virgin only appears in visions to Catholics. Surely she'd do more good for recruitment by visiting a few more diverse groups such as Buddhists etc.

The car was what I thought it was, just the battery. Under test it was down to less than 50% efficiency. KB messaged me mid afternoon to say they had managed to fit it in and sort it.

That's good news Ian :good:

What caught my attention today was the sale of the old HSBC bank building on Newtown. Local man Martin Westwell (he who bought Sainty's bakery and has a gym in the town). The building is now up for rent at around £1300 a month, suggested ideas for use include a restaurant or bar.

Don't know how much was paid for it but the land banking firm wouldn't sell it a couple of years ago when Bosom Friends enquired. I know one thing, when we looked at it it was in a fairly derelict state. The bookies that had it last (apart from the latest illegal users) just lined the bottom floor out to hide all the walls and windows.

I read today that the oil which will be used to "anoint" King Charles III at his forthcoming coronation has been 'blessed' yesterday in Jerusalem. I'm sure that will make all the difference. Thank goodness they're going for the real thing, and not some cheap substitute.

I doubt if even the King would have noticed. I do hope it was organic - he'd like that,

I read also that the said King Charles III will visit Paris and Berlin and address their respective Governments on the subject of improved realtions betweem UK and France and Germany.

Looks a bit political to me. I can't imagine his mum doing the same thing. If he wants to do politics - perhaps we'd better go the whole way and have a vote as to whether we want him at all?

I have to agree with you David. I don't think he has any clear ideas as to what the limits are to his actions and at the moment is trying to make up what a modern monarchy should look like. Perhaps he should be seen riding a bicycle?
