Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER

Yesterday afternoon was, as forecast, a mixture of sunny intervals and spells of very light rain. At 20:00 it was overcast. First thing this morning we had a light breeze and it was overcast but dry. The glass has risen slightly to 1016mb. The forecast is for an overcast but dry day with a chance of light showers from 18:00 onwards. The constant WSW wind is light to moderate and gives us a high of 1`8C and a low of 15C tonight with at most a -2C wind chill this afternoon. The outlook is for similar mixed weather for the rest of the week. No Indian summer in sight!

Yesterday the weather stuck to the forecast and by 18:00 it was raining. At 20:00 the rain had stopped but we had heavy overcast. This morning it was overcast but not raining, still damp from last night. Since then we have had a shower. The glass is down on 1011mb and the forecast is for this intermittent rain to continue until about 09:00 and then we have overcast but dry until early evening when it could get sunny. The westerly winds start light but increase to moderate later in the day giving a high of 17C, a low tonight of 11C and a wind chill this afternoon of up to -3C. The six day outlook is for even cooler weather with occasional light showers. Definitely not Indian Summer!

Yesterday afternoon was overall, dunny but soon descended into overcast again and by 20:00 we had lost the sun. First thing this morning it was calm, dry and overcast, it is still the same. The glass is down again on 1006mb. The forecast is for us to have a cloudy start with sunny spells but this soon becomes a spell of heavy rain over midday and then sunny intervals and showers later. The westerly winds are moderate and give us a high of 15C and a low of 11C tonight with up to -2C wind chill all day. The outlook is for similar weather all week with night time temperatures falling into single figures by Wednesday. We could be seeing the heating kicking in before the end of August! Deep Joy!

Yesterday stuck to the script and it rained after noon and then intermittently during the afternoon. By evening it had dried up but was still overcast at 20:00. First thing this morning there was evidence of a recent shower but it not raining. it's overcast now but still dry. The glass is down again on 1003mb. The forecast is for an overcast day until noon when the clouds will break giving us sunny spells and showers. The mainly NW wind is light and gives us a high of 16C and a low of 9C tonight with only a slight wind chill this afternoon. The boring outlook is for similar weather for at least a week.... It would appear that August is leaving us without a sunny farewell. Deep Joy!

Yesterday was, in many ways, a rerun of the day before. The promised rain came in at 15:10 and we still had light rain at 20:00. First thing this morning it was clear and dry, since then it's clouded over but it's still dry. The glass has risen to just under 1005mb and the forecast is for sunny intervals throughout the day with a chance of an occasional shower from 13:00 onwards. The WNW wind starts light and becomes moderate this afternoon giving us a high of 16C and a low of 11C tonight with a wind chill of -2C this afternoon. The six day outlook is still for similar boring weather. No Indian Summer!

Yesterday stayed dry apart from an occasional half-hearted spatter of fine rain. At 20:00 it was still dry and overcast. This morning first thing it was calm, clear and dry. It is still the same. The glass is up on 1009mb and the forecast is for a dry, overcast day but with some sunny intervals especially early this morning. The westerly winds are light to moderate and give a high of 16C with a low of 12C tonight and as much as -3C wind chill this afternoon. The six day outlook remains unchanged, similar weather, perhaps the occasional light shower and a shade warmer but no late burst of heat in sight!

Yesterday was, as promised in the forecast, dry but that's all it was. It was not sunny, warm or bright but a dull grey overcast for most of the day. At 20:00 we had heavy overcast. This morning first thing it was calm, dry and overcast and hasn't changed since. The glass is still on a shade over 1009mb. The forecast is for rain to commence around 06:00 and continue until early afternoon when it will be replaced by broken cloud and sunny intervals. The westerly wind starts light and becomes moderate later giving us a high of 16C and a low of 10C tonight with as much as -3C wind chill this afternoon. The outlook is for a chilly day tomorrow and then the temperature starts to rise as we slide into September almost reaching 20C at weekend. Don't get too excited, this is the end of summer.

Yesterday was a lot better than the forecast promised. I didn't see any rain until 20:00 when we had a light spatter of rain. Most of the day was grey overcast again. First thing this morning the sky was 75% clear with a good waxing moon (full moon tomorrow) out to the SW. It's still the same. The glass is down on 1004mb and the forecast is for a dry day with sunny intervals. The Westerly wind is light to moderate and will tend to the NW later giving us a high of 16C and a low of 8C tonight with up to -3C chill this afternoon. The outlook is for similar weather, perhaps a touch warmer but still reminding us we are getting into back-end.

Yesterday stayed dry on the whole, just a light shower during the evening. At 20:00 it was overcast but tending to clear and dry. First thing this morning it was clear with a brilliant full moon in the SW and is still the same even though the forecast tells me it is overcast..... The glass fell yesterday but has risen now to 1005mb. The forecast is for a dry day with sunny intervals. The wind is light and mainly southerly giving a high of 17C and a low of 12C with a light wind chill which could reach -2C in the afternoon. The outlook is for dry bright weather and perhaps warmer but not much.

Yesterday wasn't high summer but the last day of August was pleasant enough. At 20:00 it was calm and overcast. This morning first thing it was the same, calm, overcast and dry it is still the same. The glass is steady on 1005mb. The forecast is for fog until 10:00 but we have seen no sign of that yet. After that it will be overcast but dry. The easterly wind will be light and gives a high of 17C, a low of 13C tonight and a chill of -1C all day. The outlook is for temperatures over 20C and lots of sun next week. Could it be an Indian Summer? God knows we deserve something!

Yesterday stuck to the forecast, overcast but dry but we never saw the fog they were predicting. At 20:00 it was just that, overcast and dry. This morning first thing it was the same and hasn't changed since. The glass has risen to 1015mb and the forecast is once more for early fog and then overcast but with sunny intervals later. The light wind is easterly at first, then shifts to SE and after that to NW giving us a high of 20C and a low tonight of 12C with negligible wind chill. The six day outlook remains for brighter and warmer weather.

Yesterday stayed fine and at 20:00 we had light overcast but it cleared during the night. First thing this morning it was calm and clear with a brilliant moon, It's still the same although the forecast tells me it's cloudy! The glass is up again and is on 1023mb. The forecast is for a day of sunny intervals. The light westerly winds give us a high of 21C and a low of 11C tonight with only a slight wind chill all day. The six day outlook is for similar weather but even warmer as the high pressure establishes itself. September is being very kind to us!

I can't see the word crocquet without thinking of the phrase from Patrick Campbell's short story -

"He thought he knew English, but what on earth was 'a goss on the potted meat'? It turned out to be a grazing, or gossamer shot at the red ball, which was so old, faded and chipped that the players had always called it 'the potted meat'.16 Feb 2010"

I was introduced to croquet by a scary woman in Lincolnshire. My most vivid memory is of her shouting across the lawn to me "Be careful not to get your balls in the ha-ha Stanley!" (Yes, they really did have a ha-ha....)
Yesterday was an Indian Summer day and today is going to be the same. I was slightly puzzled by the fact there was no sun at 20:00but then realised that sunset is before that, the days have drawn in that much. This morning it's calm clear and we have a good moon accompanied by the evening Star. The glass is steady on a shade over 1022mb and the forecast is for a day of full sun. The light wind swings all round the compass all day and gives us a high of 24C and a low of 15C tonight with no wind chill. The outlook is for similar weather all week but from Wednesday onwards it could be overcast.

Yesterday was one out of the bag and at 20:00 it was warm, calm and clear. This morning first thing it was still calm clear and mild with a good moon and it hasn't changed since. The glass is down a touch on 1018mb and the forecast is for another day of full sun. The easterly wind is moderate and gives us a high of 24C and a low tonight of 14C with a -3C chill this afternoon. Back from my walk and sit. Going for meds was a waste of time, the pharmacy staff said they couldn't understand why I had been called. I got some roast belly pork and a cheese teacake and am going to have an illicit butty for dinner. Then I might think about putting the duvet covers back on, they are dry already, it's that hot out there.

Yesterday was another Indian Summer day. At 20:00 the sun had set but it was still clear and fine. It was the same first thing this morning and hasn't changed. The glass has fallen slightly to 1017mb and the forecast is for another day of full sun. The very light wind is easterly for the first half of the day and westerly for the second. The high will be 24C and the low tonight 17C with no wind chill. The outlook is for another three days of this and then a gradual cooling off with a chance of showers.
