Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER

Yesterday was the last warm day but I was busy with visitors and a bit too weary to take a walk in it. By 20:00 it was getting breezy, it was overcast and there were occasional spits of rain. First thing this morning it was still breezy we had rain and it hasn't changed since. The glass is down on 1004mb and the forecast is for rain until mid-morning and then overcast but dry afterwards. The westerly winds are brisk and gusting to almost 40mph at the moment. They will give a high of 13C a low of 4C tonight and a wind chill of -3C all day. A big change! The outlook is for brighter and drier weather but much colder, night time temperatures are going to be in low single figures all week. I think Autumn has arrived!

Another hour and a half of good sleep! Let's hear it for naps! So I never got out for a walk, I spent the day repairing my sleep deficit. However, it has done exactly what it said on the tin so far, dry, cool and overcast. Things could be worse!

Yesterday afternoon we had a light shower around 16:00. By 20:00 it was calm and clear. This morning it's calm, clear and cool. The glass has risen and is on 1009mb. The forecast is for a clear sunny day. The wind will be light and variable visiting all quarters of the compass. It gives us a high of 12C and a low of 9C with only a slight wind chill. We could have a shower of rain tomorrow but apart from that the outlook is for cool clear weather.

Bright, sunny morning, looks like there could have been a light frost. I would say, a beautiful day ahead.

That'll bring the leaves off!
Yesterday stayed clear until teatime when we had a shower. At 20:00 it was dry and almost clear and we went into a cool night. First thing this morning it was milder, calm and raining ad it hasn't changed since. The glass has fallen to 996mb and is still falling rapidly. The forecast is for heavy rain until this afternoon when it will dry up and we could get sunny spells for the rest of the day. The wind starts light in the SE bit by midday is NW and stronger, gusting to almost 35mph. This gives us a high of 12C, a low of 5C tonight and a wind chill this afternoon that could reach -4C. The outlook is for much cooler drier weather for the rest of the week, lots of sunshine and perhaps some frost.....
Later at 05:30. Still raining and the glass is still falling, down on 993mb now...

Looks like it’s been raining all night, and still is, but no the torrential downpours we’d been forecast.

It's certainly cooler, I switched the programmer/thermostat from 'frost protection' to 'on' last night. It kicked in at 06:00 this morning which was nice.

Yesterday afternoon was dry but at 20:00 it had just started to rain. First thing this morning it started raining as I went out of the door to check on the weather, I've just looked outside twenty minutes later and it's still raining. I've checked and the forecast still gives dry weather. The glass has risen to 1004mb and rising. The forecast is for a clear dry day with the possibility of a shower around teatime. The light to moderate WNW wind gives us a high of 9C and a low of 1C tonight with a wind chill of -3C this afternoon. This is more like October weather, in fact it's a touch less than the seasonal average. We have two more days in single figures but then later in the week get back to a semi-tropical 11C!
Later at 04:30. It has stopped raining, the sky has cleared and we have a light breeze.....

Yesterday afternoon was not wet but we had a succession of very light showers.... At 20:00 it had settled down and we had the makings of a clear night. This morning first thing we had a light breeze, clear sky and it was dry and cold. Still the same and the glass has risen to 1020mb. The forecast is that after a frosty start the clear day will give us lots of sun and cloud over tonight. The very light wind varies between WNW and WSW all day giving us a high of 9C and a low of 3C tonight but cool enough when in WNW to give a -3C chill at times this afternoon. The six day outlook is for slightly warmer weather after tomorrow but with cloud and the occasional light shower.

Yesterday was bright and sunny but cold. At 20:00 it was calm, cold and clear. This morning it's the same, calm, clear and cold. The glass is steady on a shade over 1020mb. The forecast is for a bright dry day with possible sun around midday. The light and variable Easterly winds give us a high of 10C, a low of 4C and a -2C chill this afternoon. The six day outlook is for slightly warmer weather but with a chance of showers. Our cold snap to compensate for the Indian Summer may be over....

Yesterday was bright and sunny, if a tad nippy in the shade. Today looks like more of the same to start with, although a tad more cloud loitering about.

It was the same here Gloria, slightly warmer but less sun.
Yesterday afternoon stayed dry and at 20:00 it was calm and clear. This morning it is calm, cold and clear and the glass has fallen almost to 1016mb. The forecast is for a dry day but it will soon cloud over and be like that all day. The steady east wind will be light to moderate and give us a high of 12C and a low of 9C tonight with as much as a -3C wind chill this afternoon. The outlook gives warmer weather for the next three days, into double figures but then on Saturday we drop back to single figures again. More chance of a light shower.....

Yesterday stayed dry despite promises of an impending storm and wind and rain. At 20:00 it was overcast but calm and dry. This morning it was the same and hasn't changed since. The glass is down on 1005mb and falling still. (So there could be substance in the storm warning!) The Met forecast is for the day to remain overcast and by late tonight we should expect rain. The constant East wind will be brisk and gust to almost 40mph all day giving us a high of 13C and a low of 10C tonight with as much as -4C wind chill this afternoon. The outlook is for a warmer day tomorrow but then dropping back to the seasonal norm but for three days we have a yellow warning of rain. After that things settle down again.....
Later.... If I have heard correctly the current storm we are expecting has been named 'Babet'.

Yesterday afternoon stayed dry and at 20:00 we had a breeze and an overcast sky but it was still dry. This morning we have rain but I note that the plethora of yellow warnings for rain associated with Babet today and tomorrow have disappeared. The glass on the other hand has had one of the biggest falls I have ever seen, it has plunged (No other word will do!) to 975mb.The forecast is for light rain ending and becoming cloudy late morning. The mainly SE winds will be little more than light giving us a high of 16C and a low of 11C with perhaps a -2C chill this afternoon. The outlook is a wet day tomorrow and a high of about 12C for the rest of next week.
Later, at 07:00. Listening to the weather forecasts for shipping and the country I have realised that Storm Babet hasn't gone away, it's moved North faster than expected and intensified. There are red weather warnings for up to 5" of rain and Force 10 Storms in Scotland. Good luck to them.....
