Thanks for that - even I - a racing fan - had forgotten the race was due. It doesn't get so much exposure here now - I think they changed the conditions such that Pom horses are not so welcome now. The prize is enormous - too much to donate to Poms.

Nice to have something that brings the whole country together.

I've been across the BoB, on a similar sized cruise ship, during a storm, it's definitely a bit lively. Did the same in February 2022, on a much larger ship, never even noticed we were at sea :biggrin2:

It must have been very frightening for the passengers. They paid an arm and a leg to get away from our winter weather and got a trip through a tumble drier instead.....
Even so, I don't quite understand how it could have got so serious on a large modern ship. Was too much reliance put on automatic systems? From the sound of it it was the way the safety manoeuvre was executed that caused the main problem and not riding out the storm.

I'm a sucker for videos of animals behaving in an almost human manner, and Youtube has identified this weakness.

I'm steered toward many such - mainly elephants and parrots. :laugh5:

Our plumber, Dave, came this morning to fix a leak from our boiler condensate pipe. We're lucky to have him, he came off his trials motorcycle recently and had treatment for a broken collar bone and a punctured lung. He's very experienced, been riding for a long time and likes a challenging ride and visits events around the country. But like so often happens his accident was a few miles from home at a local event. It was embarrassing for him because he was giving guidance and training to newer riders. He'd been going round the circuit a number of times but there had been heavy rain and when the bike landed after topping a rise it just went from under him but then ended up on top of him. He's just been showing us his X-rays on his phone!

I was never attracted to two wheels Peter, even though on occasions I have ridden on them. I felt much more secure with four axles and over thirty tons nailing me to the road. The only time I ever got into trouble was in something lighter..... :biggrin2:

Out doing my bit at Sainsburys doing a survey on what shoppers wore on there feet. Trainers 98%. shoes 2% clogs 0%. Meanwhile Mrs P running round doing her bit to empty shelves. Studied the self check out section. Shoppers with full baskets one item by one item scan and deposit on scales. Pay for items. Put stuff back in basket. Head for exit. Find shopping receipt. Try to scan bar code, usually three goes. Smile at attendant. Gates released. All this and not penny discount. People are like sheep and do as they are told without protest.

You're quite right Peter, I heartily approve the move. I heard the news item yesterday but didn't catch which store it was. I guessed it could be Booths....
And Yes Ken, people are like sheep. They can't work out that the whole development of self service and supermarkets had one thing in view, cutting down on the expense of labour. I have always pointed this out and refused to use the self-check outs.
Now what we need are reports from Booths of customers and staff who are happy with the change.....

It was an item on the 6 o'clock news yesterday, interviewing staff and customers in the Clitheroe store.

Tize, I like the tiny frog pic, I don’t think you’d realise it was a frog if it wasn’t pointed out.
Looking forward to ‘tiny creatures’ , if you post it.

They'd be welcome if they have time, and need a brew. I've still got biscuits left over from the merienda.

I'm about ten miles South of the city. Not a good day for sight seeing. Let me know.

David, Susan says to thank you for the invitation but she won't be taking it up as she has a crook Mick on her hands, somehow he has managed to put his back out. She wants to get him straight before they move to Kent again.....
