WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Peas are a staple at Chez Kev too. Guess what I've made for tea?

I should put it in Mystery Objects and give clues as to the filling

Oh please do! It might get a better response than my objects have of late......
Yesterday I had Ham, Chicken and veggies X three and also a clandestine egg salad butty at Barlic Bites.

I don't think any of Mandy's butties are illicit, It's all in your mind.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Everything in moderation, I have found a small amount of carbohydrates is beneficial to my digestive system. Wholemeal bread and pasta I find very tasty, a small amount of basmati rice is a better option to whole grain rice too (especially with a curry).

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Oh but they are Ian. If I exceed a very small quantity of bread I know all about it! It has le3d to 999 calls for ambulances before now. I find that happens when I start to relax my bans on bread and sugars. I am OK as long as I don't exceed the odd salad buttie or a small amount of spuds or apples each day. As soon as I relax that it hits me like a brick so I shall continue to enjoy the occasional salad buttie but regard it as illicit......
Yesterday I had Ham, chicken and veggies X three for breakfast, dinner and tea.
Another thing I have found out suits me is three small hot meals a day at regular intervals. We live and learn......

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I had the last of last week's cooking for breakfast and tea. Dinner was a nibble on the veggies I was cooking, but not much as I never feel hungry while I am cooking..... Today I shall roast my chicken so it will be a vegetarian breakfast!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
30g of wholemeal spaghetti with chicken, chorizo, mushroom and tomato washed down with a very nice Rioja from Aldi. Another 45 minutes of work and I'm done until Monday

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Brushetta Ezios for starter, toasted sour dough bread with chopped tomatoes olive oil, garlic, basil and flaked Parmesan. Spaghetti Carbonara, spaghetti with bacon, egg with cream and black pepper. Sweet was a Biscoff cheesecake. Good time was had by all.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Why does Rioja have that brass wire mesh on the bottles? I've been asking for years.....

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
My understanding is that it was a security measure. High quality wines had a gold mesh around the bottle, to stop the cork being removed and the wine replaced with something cheaper.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Better answer than mine Kev, same as Champagne and other variants, although I suppose that is probably more to keep the cork in place under pressure.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Here we go, from said search engine:
Why does Rioja have wire on the bottle?
"Early in the 20th century as some of Rioja's producers had made great improvements and offered wines far superior to others, unscrupulous merchants started to paste labels from the top wines onto undistinguished bottles. To prevent this, the wineries started putting wire mesh around their bottles."

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I like that last answer Ian but I suspect my old mate and wine merchant John Martinez was right when he said that nobody could remember what the reason was and it was just tradition. The same as Ian's first answer really.
(None of the mesh I have seen was tight enough or strong enough to retain the cork.....)
I had chicken and veggies X three yesterday. It's nicely on song now.....

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
No but the wire mesh was to discern between the genuine wine and re-labelled cheaper substitutes.
Wired corks for pressure purposes on other types of plonk.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
It will be takeaway for us tonight from Usmaniyah. Kids were supposed to be coming round but our Carla will have to give it a miss, her husband Ant has torn his Achilles and has a hospital appointment. Likely to have to wear a boot for at least 9 weeks, ouch!
Our Jack will be here and great minds think alike we are both having Shahee Byriani, Jack wants his Rogan Josh sauce extra hot, I think I will order medium for myself.
