Morning

It looks like the seals have gone at the joints on the pipes, Bob will pick up some new ones today from Screw fix. He managed a temporary repair last night so we could put the dishwasher on overnight, placing a bowl under the joint. Luckily the repair held.

This morning is Bacup market, followed by Bob hopefully replacing the pipework under the sink. This afternoon Julia will pick Ed and the girls up in Rochdale. They are coming by train from Coventry, lunching in Manchester and by tram to Rochdale. We plan on going out for a walk whatever the weather , so we can all get some fresh air. They are only staying overnight, leaving after breakfast in the morning, its a visit to reassure the girls that all is well.

Have a good day all

I hope Bob manages to get what he needs to effect a permanent repair. You may get away with a dry Bacup Market. We expect the rain to come in just before midday and I am going to try to get my veggies shopping in before it happens. To that end I ditched roasting my chicken this morning....
I hope you have a good day, you both deserve it.
I shall cast my vote by going to bed now.... :biggrin2:

Today will be a busy day because I declined cooking yesterday so this morning will be put chicken in to roast before going in the shed for an hour and then after second sleep brown the chicken and then cook next week's vegetables.
That should keep me out of mischief until about 14:00!
05:30. So far so good! The chicken is in the oven starting its four hour roast.

Only one thing done this morning (Apart from putting my chicken in to roast!) and that was to fit the piston rod gland on its studs. I got it right first time, no need for any easing. That's good. Now for breakfast.

Morning

Busy day yesterday what with shopping and visitors. We managed a walk in the dry in the afternoon too, doing a short 3 .5 mile circuit through the dell to the waterfalls and the lodge. The waterfalls were disappointing considering the rainfall over the last few days.

Today we will all have a big breakfast then Julia , Ed and the girls will set off back to Coventry and I will put the house back to some degree of normality. Have a good day all.

The end of a big cook day. All pans put away and the hob is cleaned. That's quite enough honest endeavour for today..... :biggrin2:

I shall be in the shed as usual doing good works with my castings. Later I might cook savoury mince just for light entertainment!

Morning

How well you know me. All washed, dried outside , ironed and into the airing cupboard overnight. We also did a 4.5 mile circular walk, the same as last week up to Lobden but in reverse. Fabulous views up there yesterday, way over to Derbyshire and Cheshire .
There we found evidence of flytipping, now reported to the Environment section of the council. I don’t understand why people do that and its a very narrow pot holed track to drive up

Bob has fixed the leak under the sink, and is in the process of changing the glass in the front of the wood burning stove. That broke last weekend and after a bit of research he was able to find a replacement online. This morning whilst I am doing zoom pilates he is off to Wendy’s in Norden to do some more fixing. When I visited her last week I noticed the kitchen unit door under the sink was hanging off. He mended it some weeks ago but it really needed a new hinge which he has since bought for it.

Today is a late afternoon appointment, so it will be getting on for 6 before we are home. It promises to be a nice day, have a good one. Its Claires birthday today, i believe she and Adam have taken a day off work and are out for the day including lunch out.

Good to see Bob carrying on using his skills despite the treatment.

This morning the valve rod gland got the attention By closing time I had it ready for drilling and tapping for the studs that will retain it. that's tomorrow's task. Now my sights are set on breakfast!

As usual I shall do an hour in the shed on my castings. I love that time when I am using my hands and making something that didn't exist until I went there. Then there is the after burn of knowing that with minimal care what I am making will last for centuries.
Later in the morning I will make my savoury mince, it's marinading in the fridge and has been there all night.
After that perhaps a short walk, they promise us dry weather!

I changed the schedule and cooked my savoury mince before going in the shed.

Only one image needed this morning after marking, drilling and tapping the valve chest and valve rod gland and ending up after fitting with the cylinder looking fully equipped externally at closing time. Slow and careful but it's working! Now for breakfast.

Morning

I have done so little pilates and yoga over the last month that when I do it I ache and this morning I really ache after yesterday morning’s session which was rather strenuous. I think I will make yoga tonight but probably nothing else this week.

Today’s appointment is mid afternoon and there is the weekly doctor’s clinic too. This morning I shall take the opportunity of the dry weather to sweep the back garden, scrape some moss off the paths and if I have time do a quick hoe of the flower beds. Thats it. On the way to Christies we shall pick up our prescriptions at the pharmacist.

Have a good day all, we are promised dry, sun and 10 degrees

I shall be in the shed as usual for an hour but can't have second sleep as the gas man cometh between 08:00 and noon (or so they say....) So I have to sit and wait for them. Deep Joy.
I might cook a swede as that is the last of the excess veggies I ended up with last week. I don't like them hanging about......

The first job this morning was to improve the fit of one of the countersunk screws that locates the front lid. Run the tap through it. Then I started work on the steam valve. The first job was to grind the flash of it on the grinding wheel and than make sure it was square. Once that was done I started milling it to dimensions, the first being the distance from the bottom face to the top and cleaning all the other faces up. Tomorrow I shall carry on with the valve and the rod.

Morning

It certainly is like a days work. The gardening got done and a few pots were moved around so we can see flowers whilst sat in the conservatory. However we did not get to the pharmacist as the traffic was very bad again. They are redoing a major crossroads on Bury Road so traffic is using Spotland Road to get to Norden. This fills up Spotland road from one end to the other so traffic from our side of town can’t get on to it without a good 30 minutes wait. . We needed to get to Norden for the prescriptions but had to abandon the idea and go in the opposite direction so we could actually get on the road to the motorway. We have weeks of this to come. Thursday seems a good day for collecting prescriptions as we have a late Christies appointment. All went well yesterday, and we are now ticking off the days to next Wednesday. I shall miss our daily outing :laugh5:

This morning we are walking down to the bank, having a coffee at our favourite cafe and walking back. We are taking the opportunity to stock up on the next round of birthday cards, and buy some art stuff as Poundland is selling good branded acrylic paint for 50 p a tube. Then its home, lunch, and off on our daily jaunt. Have a good day all.

Morning Sue. It's boring here because I am sat here waiting for the gas man. To make things even more intersting Whatsapp appears to have frozen again. :surprised:
