Lovely sunny morning, bit of scattered cloud, and dare I say, there’s a bit of warmth in the air.

Wendy is right. Gloria is getting the West Coast weather, we are getting the East Coast which is where it is still cold. You still need to wrap up warm in Barlick!

Yesterday afternoon stayed dry but cold. At 20:00 it was calm, clearing and cold. Same first thing this morning and so far it hasn't changed. The glass has fallen to 1003mb and the forecast is for a day of sunshine and showers, the showers are due to start any time now. The wind starts in the west, moves into the north and ends the day in the east. We can expect a high of 7C and a low of -1C tonight. The wind chill is as much as -4 at times but for much of the latter part of the day will be -1C. The outlook is for similar weather and could get warmer from Sunday onwards.

Yesterday afternoon we got the rain they forecast but it was only light spatters of big drops at short intervals. By 20:00 when I went to bed it was dry, clearing and we had some late low sun from the west. This morning first thing it was calm and we had broken overcast. We appear to have complete overcast now but it is still calm and dry. The glass is down a touch on 1001mb and the forecast is for a sunny start and then sunshine and showers from late morning onwards. The wind starts as a very light NW but then swings to a moderate NE around 09:00. We will have a high of 8C and a low of 1C tonight with a -2C wind chill all day. This means we start the day with a frost. The outlook is for another cool day tomorrow and then the weather starts to warm a little.

Beautiful morning and the sun has warmth in it, we’ve had no sign of the frost which east Lancs has had.

Yesterday afternoon was an improvement on the day before in that we didn't have any spatters of rain. However, it was still cold. At 20:00 it was calm, clear and cool. This morning it's the same, I suspect we may have another frost but can't see yet. The glass is up slightly on 1003mb and the forecast is for a day like yesterday of sunny spells and dry overcast. The east winds will be moderate and we shall have a 'high' of 9C and a low of 4C tonight with up to -4C wind chill during the day. The outlook is for another day like today tomorrow and then from Sunday on a sharp rise in temperature to the mid-teens. About time too!

I'll second that! It's a face freezer out there. (They forecast -4C wind chill for this time of day and I think they were right!)
I've been for my walk and done a small shop at the Co-op for one or two bits I missed yesterday. So few customers in there and such big gaps on the shelves it makes me wonder if they will be in business much longer. Noticeable that it's the car trade that's deserting them. The car park is almost empty nowadays.

Went for a walk later, when the sun had disappeared, it was very cold. Surprising the difference the sun made earlier.

Yesterday afternoon was cold and gloomy, no hail in Barlick that I saw but spatters of rain. At 20:00 it was calm, cool and dry. This morning it was the same and it hasn't changed. The glass is down on 1001mb and the forecast is for an overcast day with rain expected from 08:99 to around noon. The mainly NW wind will be moderate giving a high of 9C and a low of 5C tonight with a -3C wind chill all day. The outlook is for warmer weather, rain expected tomorrow but after that reasonably dry.

Our deciduous leaves are changing their colours. Every so often a tree will suddenly drop a mass of leaves. I love watching it happening.
Our street sweeper will come soon. Some people are watering their gardens, due to lack of rain.

In the wee hours this morning I half heard a news item on the radio.

"The Met office have said that April (which still has three days to run) was composed of two halves. The first half was mild and the second half was colder. The average however showed that the month as a whole was "warmer than average".

There's a word that immediately came to mind to describe this situation. It rhymes with. . :laugh5:

I agree David. Sometimes the impression on us humans is more important than pure mathematical averages.
Statistically speaking, a man with one foot on a block of Ice and the other in a bucket of boiling water is just comfortable thank you.........
Yesterday afternoon we had spatters again. By 20:00 it was calm, overcast and dry. This morning we have a breeze and significant rain. The glass is up on 1005mb and the forecast is for rain all day except for the forenoon which will be overcast but dry. The constant southerly wind is moderate and gusts to 35mph this afternoon. We can expect a high of 11C and a low of 9C tonight with as much as -4C wind chill. It's an improvement but not what you'd call warm weather yet! The outlook is for it to be much warmer and dryer.

Yesterday afternoon was breezy and at first we had spatters of rain but later it dried. At 20:00 it was breezy and overcast but dry. This morning first thing it was still breezy and overcast but dry. It is still the same. The glass is up a touch on 1006mb and the forecast is for a dry day but overcast and with sunny spells. The wind is a blustery SE and gusts to over 30mph giving a high of 16C and a low of 8C tonight with a wind chill of -3C at times. The outlook is for the drier warmer weather to continue for at least the next six days.
