Hi
Finally back to family history research. My maternal line is Sagar. They were originally from Haughead Farm, Simonstone and my line of Sagars all lived Padiham, Burnley, Barnoldswick.
Through an amazing man, John Sagar, he has diligently traced my line back to 1500 where it appears they disappear. Can find no records of any Sagars prior to 1500.
I have done a DNA test and found my origins to be Britain, Ireland and Germany. I know the slight irish connection is through my paternal line.
Has anyone on here ever been able to go back from 1500 with any Sagars? I would love to know just where we originate from

Re: Sagar family
There is nothing in my Sagar index before the 19th century. (LINK)
One suggestion.... 1500 was a time when many surnames were being allocated for taxation purposes in place of the almost universal use of 'son of' or linked to place or occupation. If there is evidence it will almost certainly not be the same identifier.
