It's not nice out, lots of roads closed due to flooding. The M65 is closed between Barrowford and Colne, I reckon that'll cause some chaos.

Yesterday the rain came in later than forecast but persisted and was upgraded to an amber warning. It r5ained all night and is still persisting. It's forecast to last until 10:00. The glass has fallen to 997mb and after 10:00 the day is forecast to be mainly dry but with a chance of showers in the late afternoon. The WSW wind will be brisk, gusting to almost 45mph but in mid afternoon it will fall and back into the north. We can expect a high of 6C and a low of 6C tonight with a -5C chill in the strong west wind and a -4C chill when it drops but backs into the North. The perceived temperature will be below freezing all day from 08:00 onwards. The outlook is for drier, brighter and colder weather for the next three days and after that just as cold but back to overcast again.

Yesterday was a day of total gloom and whilst it might not have been raining in forecaster's terms it was certainly wet all day. During the night the clouds cleared and this morning it is calm clear and very cold. The glass is on 1012mb and rising. The forecast is for a totally clear day and yes, that means full sun! There is a yellow weather warning of ice until 10:00. The constant light to moderate NW wind only allows us a high of 1C and a low of -5C tonight but factor in a wind chill of -4C for most of the day which means a perceived temperature of -8C will be common so wrap up warmly as you enjoy the Currant Bun! The outlook is for a least four days of winter and that could include snow. No point looking beyond that apart from commenting that we appear to have started the New Year with normal winter weather!

Yesterday was as per the forecast, sunny and cold all day, it stayed light noticeably longer than of late. First thing this morning it was calm and clear but it is now clouding over. The glass is up on 1019mb and the forecast is for a clap of snow between 05:00 and 08:00 followed by a spell of full sun at dinnertime... The westerly winds will be moderate and gust to 30mph this morning but easing as the day goes by. We can expect a high of 3C and a low of -1C tonight with a wind chill of -5C this morning but less later on. We can expect two more days of snow warnings over Saturday and Sunday and after that brighter and drier weather but no warmer.
Later at 04:30. Very light fine snow is falling......

Cathy. over here, our expected clap of snow fell as light rain and froze immediately when it hit the freezing stones on the walls. They are now coated with shot ice and I have no doubt that has happened to some road and pavement surfaces as well so that's knocked any thoughts of going for a walk on the head. I am not going to risk a fall.

The back street is shot ice, what a good job I got all my essentials from the Co-op and shopped and cooked. I can last out for a while yet without going anywhere.... :good:

Amber warnings issued for snow and ice on Saturday and Sunday by the Met Office. We're going to the pantomime, at Colne Muni, on Sunday so hopefully the warnings are as inaccurate as the previous one :good:

It's Bosom Friends Coffee Morning tomorrow. I have done the shopping for the milk and sundries and taken the opportunity to take them round to the centre today. Pavements and the road down Bessie Street and along Commercial Street are OK at the moment. I only have to make one trip now to open up and get the heating and the boiler on an hour before we crack off at 10am tomorrow. Will depend on the weather how many people we get to attend.

It's much milder this morning Ian and I think the shot ice in the back street has thawed. The Met office is forecasting the end of the world with an amber snow warning and they say it's snowing at the moment.... I shall go and have a look. No snow as yet.....
Yesterday stayed very cold and the shot ice underfoot in the back street persisted but I thing that has thawed overnight. The glass has fallen and is on 1016mb. The forecast is dire, an amber warning for snow and two yellow ones for ice, the met office say it's snowing at the moment and will continue to do so until 09:00 but there is no sign of it as yet! They forecast a dry day after 09:00, overcast but with sunny spells. The southerly winds will be light and give us a high of 3C and a low of -1C tonight with a wind chill of up to -3C this morning and slightly less later. It feels milder than yesterday which could be a sign of snow but it doesn't feel like snow to me. I think the Met Office are crying wolf! (Famous last words?) The outlook is for something similar to today tomorrow and after that dryer, brighter and colder.....

Hopefully the Met Office have got it wrong, we are going to the pantomime at Colne Muni tomorrow afternoon (oh no you're not I hear you say). If we do get the predicted snow we'll be getting the bus, there's no chance of me getting the car off the drive unless I grit it (slim chance of that happening). The bus stop is just outside my house

Very muggy and overcast here in Adelaide . We keep getting teased with ‘just a few’ raindrops.
Apparently we can expect a few showers between 3AM and 7AM tomorrow morning. Whoopee 🙄.
Monday and Tuesday look good for us.
.
Enjoy your Snow from inside your warm homes . Brrr 😊

It looks as though Our hopes that the Met Office were crying wolf were misplaced Kev.....
We saw no signs of snow yesterday but during the night the Atlantic front has reached us, The glass started falling yesterday afternoon and during the night we had continuous light snow, enough for us to have white roofs and streets by early this morning. The glass is down on 992mb and the forecast is for heavy cloud and snow all day, we have another amber warning in place. The constant east wind is moderate and gusts to almost 40mph. We can expect a high of 1C and a low tonight of 0C with a wind chill of -7C this morning and -5C for the rest of the day. The outlook is for snow until Tuesday and then it dries up but becomes colder. Thursday night is forecast to be -10C. I think we can say we have winter weather.....
I've just seen your post Cathy. Enjoy it! The reality is slightly cooler here......

I haven't been able to look out of my windows yet, they are covered in snow. The wind is gusting into the high 30s and its an Easterly, which is bad news for us and means the high bit of road between here and the Black Lane Ends pub will probably be 3ft deep in snow.
