Re: Have your Say - LCC - Transport Consultation
As far as buses went I was never able to do one objective to travel in one day all the LCC supported services that were covered by their dayrider card (the problems of keeping a mother going in her flat rather than nursing home got/gets in the way of doing other interesting things).
The (mainly "Holmeswood") group of services I used a little bit when I was in Burnley , drivers were not that helpful alas and the little bit of the estate I was on lost its local loop which meant an additional walk up the road over the canal, by which time I would have been enroute to the main road and the Burnley / Transdev mainline routes up and down - which at one time crossed Burnley but were then switched to terminate in the Bus Station.
Transdev then for a while gained many of the LCC services as "Ribble Valley" which was a nice touch , but this happened around Covid times and the contract renewal didnt fall for Transdev which I feel was a loss as the comprenhensive ticketing for Transdev/LCC was lost again,
So alas I am not up to date for what plans might be in place for 2025, (other than some changes on the Burnley Hospital Service toward Blackburn which loses its Colne element) One would hope further expansion, change of max fare cap per route from government nothwithstanding giving some alternative from car use might happen, in terms of locations served and frequencies with good publicity.

Skipton-Colne railway reopening ? (or closure)
Reading Hamdlamps memories it now sort of makes sense on the Beeching Report - much of which was based on what figures BR supplied. The oddity of west of Colne being ex Lancashire and Yorkshire and the East of Colne the Midland Railway even though both would have fallen under LMS at grouping did their sectors revert aways from that with Midland Region covering only one segment of the route. Seeing that scheduled services were rarely in place connecting through trains Preston or Blackburn to Skipton or Leeds I can see that passenger reciepts would be low for longer journeys. DMUs were well in place by 1965 so steam locos would not need the maintenance expenses and changing or keeping locos in the correct "patch". Perhaps better comprehensive passenger services would have been better to keep the route as a through route rather than a couple of branches.
Maybe that might change in the future

This was SELRAP presentation slides for the 2024 Election , when "Northern Powerhouse" had faded away towards "levelling up" I presume it has to be re-done now for "Opening Up for Growth"
I understand the biggest objection is additionally closures of a level crossing in the Skipton Area for additional time leading to traffic delays.
Also for Drax Liverpool Imports the "Biomass" of course comes from the US which is now less politically certain.
