Chicken and veggies.... This weeks batch is on song now and I'm enjoying it! I shall be cooking pork belly with onions, oranges and spices today..... It's all go!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Home made sausage rolls using pork mince, onions, garlic and bacon etc. from Tesco, not sausage meat. The thing that makes them special is Tarragon. Confession, I'm using shop bought puff pastry these days, no more rolling out for me.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Julie, in the days when I was eating pastry I did the same thing.... I bought ready made. It seemed to me that it was just as nutritionally sound as making my own. So don't feel guilty!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Making puff pastry is a lot of effort for a small result. Shop bought puff pastry saves all the effort so that I can do better things with my life, not sure what that entails yet though.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Chicken and veggies X three but I treated myself to a spoonful of pork and orange on my tea as by then I had finished cooking it and had defatted the gravy in the freezer. It was lovely.....

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Three helpings of pork and veggies plus a mid morning treat.... Egg, smoked bacon and fried tomatoes. They can't touch you for it! (and a little of what you fancy does you good.)

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
We had Chinese take-away but from a different establishment. We turned up to our normal one only to find it closed, I imagine from the notice on the door that a family holiday is being had. We drove off to a different place that we knew of and it was, of course, okay. You do get used to one style of cooking and I will say that the Chow Mein from our usual place is heavier on the vegetables than the one we had yesterday, the meat is also not as "processed". However it was more than edible (but expensive)!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I think my extravagant breakfast (4 Rashers of Smoked back bacon, three large orange yolk free range eggs and two large vine ripened tomatoes) will be costing just over £4.50....
I'm cooking the Sunday version now.....

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I'll be having bacon, egg and tomato for my lunch, but it will only be two rashers of back bacon , I egg and one home grown tomato, plenty for one meal. I had porridge for breakfast. Tea will be home made pea and ham soup with a slice of home made sourdough bread.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Stuck for an idea for tea yesterday - I decided to copy you. Everything from Aldi though - so the cost was bit less.
4 Slices back bacon (smoked available same price) 72p
2 Bog standard eggs 40p
2 Vine ripened tomatoes. 40p. _
Total cost £1.52.
I'm sure SCG';s was better, but mine was very good.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
It would have been just as good David as long as you added a splash of Worcestershire sauce!
Backing up my mid morning treat I had my usual Pork and Veggies X three.

Pork and veggies X three with a mid morning treat of 3 grilled sausages after I had made a sausage, onion and potato extender for the current batch.
