We've just got daylight here Gloria and we have light cold rain with it. I had sausage for second breakfast!

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon we lost the rain and it brightened up, we actually had sun later! A clear colder night and first thing this morning it was cool broken overcast , dry and we had a breeze. The glass is up on 1019mb and the forecast is for a sunny day with overcast later. A bit confusing as we also have a yellow warning of rain from 18:00 onwards but nothing in the forecast. The constant southerly winds give us a high of 8C and a low tonight of 7C with a wind chill that will reach -4C this morning. The outlook is for similar weather with yellow rain warnings for two days.....

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday the skies stayed clear until dark and we had clear skies for the meteor shower seekers until midnight when we became overcast. That's what we have at the moment, a breeze and dry flags under a cloudy overcast but with the promise of rain. The glass is steady on 1014mb. The forecast is for significant rain all day and there is a yellow warning for rain in place. The constant SSW wind is brisk and gusts to 40mph all day. We can expect a high of 10C and a low of 8C tonight with a -4C wind chill all day. The outlook is for similar broken weather all week, gradually drying up.

From 37C on Friday , we are down to 22C today. Much more civilised.
I’m not happy with what is coming for us this coming week - Wednesday to Sunday - looks like a Heatwave to me

Blue skies have come and they will last till sunset (8.24pm).

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
In contrast Cathy, we are looking at a cold wet windy day here..... allowing for the wind, we will never feel warmer than 5C today so enjoy your sun even though it might mean a heatwave!

Three hours later.... Sill glimpses of the moon through broken overcast but the rising wind is bringing in spatters of light rain. Deep Joy!

Light cloud, and a light breeze, plenty of room for change.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
I've been for a walk to the Co-op for some shelf fillers and my milk. It's a nasty raw wet windy day out there and the sell by date on the milk is the day after Xmas Day so things are getting serious!

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday we settled down into a miserable afternoon but rain was not as heavy as the yellow warning suggested. The rain ceased around dusk and we started the night with clear skies but this soon deteriorated to overcast and by now, light rain. This morning we have overcast, a cold breeze and light rain. The glass is back on 1000mb and the forecast is for significant rain all day and yes, there is a yellow warning for heavy rain. The wind starts the day as brisk SSW gusting to 33mph but by early afternoon has dropped to light and ends as a westerly breeze. We can expect a high of 9C and a low tonight of 3C. There will be a -3C wind chill this morning but that reduces during the day as the wind drops. Expect a sunny day tomorrow and then two wet days, after that we have mixed weather.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon slowly improved until nightfall when it was calm, dry and bright overcast. We have had a dry night and this morning it is calm, dry and overcast. The glass has risen and is on 1002mb and rising. The forecast is for a calm, dry, bright day with a lot of sun. The westerly winds will be very light all day. We can expect a high of 7C and a low of -1C tonight. The wind chill is negligible for most of the day but -3C after dark tonight. Tomorrow will be a gloomy wet day and then the week settles down to quieter weather and closer to the seasonal average.
