Morning

Another late sleep however not a good one as I was awake till nearly 4.

Today we are having a day out , doing another Mystery Tour. Its a different series of books but still good. We were going to Leeds but did not decide earlier enough to prebook train tickets thus the price we would pay is a bit steep. Instead its a bit of a village tour round Pendle including Barrowford and Downham. I think there will be less walking than usual and the 4 hours will have a fair bit of driving in it. We will be out most of the day. It promises to be cool dry and windy. Have a good day all

Like the other series of books they have a fictional story running through them and a crime to solve using notable landmarks as clues to help you solve the mystery.,

Sounds like a good day Sue and you have a chance of some sunshine just after Noon in Pendle.... Good luck with that. I have had a full morning even though I ditched the shed. I have roasted my chicken and dealt with it and had a short walk to the Co-op for my milk. Back home now... The wind chill is definitely -5C at the moment! Alright if you have a good hood.

This morning was a general rebuild of the engine so far before we move into the next phases. This is where you do your final checks to make sure you have the basics right. Now I want my breakfast....

Morning

We had a good day out but did not finish the route. We started at Pendle Heritage centre, had coffee in the cafe and found clues in the park. We drove to Downham, found clues in the village and the church yard as well as having a very nice lunch in the pub. By this time it was after 2 pm, there was a biting wind, and we were not even half way through with two more villages to go. We decided to come home and go back to do the other half another Saturday.

Not sure what we are doing today, Bob is not at the park, I have no ironing to do and no cleaning so perhaps a walk is on the cards. I still have a little essential sewing to finish. Its due to be dry and cold. Have a good day all

I shall do my hour in the shed early doors and then take a view on the rest of the day.....
One matter I need to address is that Martha has sent me a book, Bryson's 2000 'Down Under' Because of a slip of the mouse she sent two cop[ies and she's asked me to give it away so the first person who knocks on the door gets a free copy!
At the same time she bought a copy of my book about my dad, 'An Australian Life' and when she wrote to me she was already on page 63.... I shall be interested to hear her opinion.....

I have to report a change in programme. I was on the verge of going in the shed when I realised that the last thing I wanted to do was that. So I stopped, had my breakfast and now I am going back to bed for second sleep. What's the point of being almost ninety years old if you can't do things like this? See you all later!

I shall do better this morning! I shall have an hour of occupational therapy in the shed early doors. We are in for a wet windy day so I shan't even think of having a walk. We are promised a wind chill of -7C at times, I feel sorry for anyone who has to go out in it. I have freedom to choose, one of the few advantages of being old!

The job this morning was to connect the piston rod to the crosshead and verify that there was the correct clearance at each end of the stroke. I fitted the piston complete with rings in the bore and used the rod to mark the crosshead. Then I drilled and tapped the crosshead 2BA and refitted it in the crosshead guides. Then I fitted the back lid on the cylinder and checked for clearance at each end of the stroke. It was fine so we can say we have had a good morning, taken a step closer to having and engine and earned our breakfast.

Morning

Well we have none of the snow forecast over Rochdale, instead it is heavy squally rain , yuk. This moning someone is coming with their embroidery machine for me to have a look at. They bought it second hand but can’t get it to stitch out properly. There could be all sorts of reasons ie wrong thread, wrong bobbin, wrong tension, wrong stabiliser or even just not following the instructions properly so I said I would have a look. This afternoon I need to sort out some art stuff as tomorrow morning I have a zoom watercolour workshop with Jeremy Ford. This evening is Pilates and yoga in the studio. Have a good day all

Morning Sue! I think you'll sort yjr machine out, you have the right sort of brain! I remember what my dad once told me.... "When all else fails, read the instructions!" Good luck with it....
No snow here just very bad wind and rain. Two power drop outs already.

All sorted, he was using the wrong sort of backing fabric ( stabiliser) and putting it into the embroidery frame incorrectly. It was bought off ebay and came with a lot of stuff that had nothing to do with the machine .

I shall be in the shed for an hour early doors doing useful things to my valve chest.
Later, after second sleep I shall go for a walk and try to find out where my meds are after a text from Everest Pharmacy yesterday. (Kev must have been right about the demise of Well....)
14:00 I am expecting Robin my chiropodist.....

This morning I refined the steam chest.... I drilled and tapped it for the steam pipe and filed the inside surfaces until it was square and sized correctly for the valve. I massaged the holes in the steam chest lid until they were an easier fit. Finally I got my brass stock out ready for making the steam and exhaust pipes tomorrow. Now I am chasing my breakfast.

Morning

Its a much lighter and clearer sky this morning , calmer wind but still very cold. We have a conflicting forecast, the hour by hour graph shows a dry and sometimes sunny day with no precipitation, the overall forecast says heavy snow.

It won’t bother me, I shall be warm inside. I have a zoom watercolour class this morning till 1.00 pm so it will be a late lunch. I think Bob is planning on washing the lounge ceiling before he paints it.

The marathon folding screen between the lounge and dining room is finished. Sometime soon I shall paint window cills, the door frame and skirting boards. The latter will have to be finished when we move furniture ie large cabinets. We also need to buy wallpaper.

This evening I have zoom pilates. Have a good day all

I shall be in the shed as usual for an hour of OT early doors. Later this morning I shall have to make another trip to Everest/Well to return a box of pills they gave me which are no longer on my prescription. Perhaps some confusion in the handover.
Apart from that there are no calls on my time so I shall perhaps just fry my sweet potato chips.....
