Morning

I had a good art session yesterday and am really pleased with the result. Bob finished washing and painting the lounge ceiling so I think his next step is the dining room, then we can move on to the other gloss ( which I normally do) . We have decided to get rid of the chimney which we think is why we have damp patches round the chimney breast, even though our neighbour the builder has repaired the flashing. We have a multifuel burning stove in the lounge, which is rather old and does not meet modern standards so we will replace that with an electric look a like. This will put the wallpapering on that side of the room on hold for a bit as we will need to put in an electric socket for it but we can plod on with the rest

This morning I shall go swimming, this afternoon Lucy is coming. I shall be showing her how to sew and hem stretch fabric, plus we will tackle hand sewing again….not her best skill. The forecast is cloudy and cold. Have a good day all

I shall be in the shed early doors doing useful things to the valve train on my engine. We are promised sleety showers this morning so I doubt if I will be venturing out!

This morning I finished machining the valve chest. I drilled the 5/32" hole for the valve rod and the 5/16" seat for the valve rod gland. Next I machined the rough casting ending up with a gland that now needs drilling for the mounting studs. That's for tomorrow. Now I am after my breakfast.

Morning

We have both just woken up and it was light, in fact it was nearly 8.00 am. What a shock. It was a busy day yesterday for both of us but we didn’t feel more tired than usual when we came to bed at 11.

It might be light but its grey and windy out there. This morning is u3a art at Todmorden, then lunch out, I think it is all 6 of us today. I think that is all for today, have a good one everyone

I shall be in the shed as usual for OT as I work with my hands on the engine. I don't see much chance of a walk as we are promised a wet and windy day. The nearest I can see to useful activity is putting my pork belly in the slow cooker!

This morning I finished the valve rod gland by drilling it 5BA clearance, transferring those hole positions to the steam chest face and drilling and tapping for the studs. I fitted the studs and refined the hole positioning on the gland until I had a good fit. Then I put a 5/32" drill through the assembly and ensured that there was clearance for the valve tod. A quiet hour with a good result. Now I want my breakfast!

Yesterday would have been Col's birthday and Craig and I celebrated by doing something that Col would have really enjoyed, in fact it was his favourite treat. We went to Burger King in Skipton and sat in the car eating a whopper meal! Afterwards we had a little ceremony burying some of Col's ashes in our pet cemetery where he wished to be. It was a cold, wet afternoon but I felt so much better for having done the deed.
I'm hoping to take some more ashes up Ardnamurchan later in the year.

Morning

It must have been a sad day but one with closure Wendy. It is nice that he remains close by. Half of brother Dave's ashes were sprinkled on the family grave plot in Burnley cemetery, the other half , as per his wishes, were sprinkled on the sea near the Isle of Wight.

This morning Bob has an engineering friend calling round so I shall catch the bus into Rochdale ( bus stop right out side our house) and go and buy Bobs birthday card and a few other bits and pieces. I may walk back or come back on the bus. This afternoon I may paint the two window cills in the lounge and dining room. We have confirmation from our roofer neighbour that he will take the chimney down on Monday morning. This means we can take the multi stove out of the fireplace and start stripping wallpaper. Hopefully the damp patches will dry before we are ready ro paper round the chimney breast.

I think it is going to be dry this morning, about 7 degrees with light rain this afternoon. Have a good day all

Just one simple job this morning. Cut the 5/32" stainless steel stock provided for the valve rod to length and thread each end 4BA ready for fitting the steam valve. If you are thinking 45 minutes is a long time for such a simple job, try it yourself. You could be in for a shock! Now I want my breakfast.

Morning

Another morning of waking up late, I suppose we must need it.

Today I shall wash and change the bedding and do the iron8ng. There isn’t much, one advantage of winter clothes, jumpers don’t need ironing. Claire and Erin are coming for lunch as they are coming over for the rugby at Spotland. This afternoon i shall put a zip in Lucy’s dress toile so she will be to try it on, on Thursday. Not sure what Bob is planning for today.

Its due to be 7 degrees, and light rain after 3.00 pm, just in time for the rugby. Have a good day all
