Unusually, I can post on shed matters before I go in there this morning. Normally I would be tidying up and getting ready to start a new build, I have the castings ready to be unpacked, but this morning is slightly different.
This is an engine I made about two years ago and it got accidentally dropped which didn't do it any good. I suspect it's bent the crankshaft but in order to find out and rectify it I shall have to strip it down and test it leading to a possible repair.
So that's what you have to look forward do!

Morning

Thats me exactly Stanley, no lovely bread for me as I am fighting madly on the pre diabetic scale. I am hoping the swimming is going to help with that .

This morning is french at Haslingden. This afternoon Lucy can no longer come as she had forgotten she had a dental appointment after school. So the dining room we restored to tidy so we could get to the dining room table this afternoon for cutting out can be disrupted again as Bob only has the short wall with the window left. This means moving the corner cabinet which luckily contains only a few bits and pieces like serving bowls, my great aunts tea set , and the smaller Toby Jugs of my Toby Jug collection.

The contents of the other cabinet are now washed and replaced with two boxes of stuff packed for a charity shop. There are some very nice vintage Edwardian glasses which I hope they can get a good price for. The charity shop I worked for pre covid used to ebay things like that. There is some silver ware too like candlesticks, but we no longer entertain like that. All our friends are in agreement that it is less hassle at our age to go out for a meal together than spend all day cooking and then washing up into the early hours . I have inherited some crystal candlesticks which I can always use if I want to, no need to keep cleaning them . Even with so many items removed the cupboard is still full mainly my Toby Jug collection and Bobs whiskey bottles. Not that he drinks much whiskey but he does get a lot as presents.

Today I think the weather is ok this morning but it may rain this afternoon. Have a good day all

This morning I made a good start on stripping the crankshaft out of the damaged engine so that I can accurately assess it. I am fairly certain that this is the problem, the shaft is bent. Now the job is breakfast,

Morning

We are heading for a nice day. I intend to wash towels and hang them out to dry. I shall also do a little more garden tidying. I would like to get all the way round the back before we head to France on Sunday.

Bob has finished the decorating apart from the wall that is still a little damp round the chimney breast in the lounge. So when he puts the unit back in the dining room I shall polish it, and dust everything as I put it back. There will be no more stuff for the hospice from this cabinet. I took the other two boxes yesterday. This evening I have pilates and yoga at the studio.

Have a good day everyone

Morning Sue, you're right, it looks like another good day for us as well. I have just been for a short walk to the Co-op for my accompaniments for the roast chicken later this week. I am expecting my friends Vicky and Mick around 10:30, they are going to help me with veggies.....

Don't worry Gloria, we will mind the shop while you are away.... :laugh5:
I shall be putting my chicken in the oven and cooking veggies later, it's that time of week again.
Later.... I have prepared the chicken and it is in the oven. I have decided that this is enough honest endeavour for early morning so I am going to have my breakfast and go back to bed..... No shed!

Afternoon

Well I forgot to write this morning. It is our youngest’s birthday today and we were chatting away online, then I did my french and it was time to get up. After breakfast I did a bit of rose pruning before I went to the swimming pool for my weekly swim. This afternoon we went to B&Q in Bury to return two un- needed rolls of wallpaper then it was back home and out in the garden again. Bob cut the back hedge this morning whilst I was swimming so that gave me the chance to tackle the bottom patio area this afternoon. I haven’t quite finished but it should only take about another hour. We shall go to France with a tidy garden and freshly decorated lounge and dining room except for half a wall that hopefully will be dry when we get back

Hope you all had a lovely day

My first job this morning was to heat the boss of the flywheel enough to allow me to break the Loctite seal and take the flywheel off the crankshaft. Then I was able to turn the crankshaft in the lathe while measuring its truth with a dial indicator and gradually persuading it back to truth. Then I polished the ends of the shaft and the journals. Last job, I re-fitted the flywheel with Loctite and Tomorrow I shall test its truth on the shaft. But now the job is breakfast.

Morning Sue.... So it looks as though you'll get the garden sorted before you go to France. How did the course of antibiotics end? Did you eventually knock that pesky cough on the head?
I am looking at doing a bit of extension cooking I think. I have some leeks that need attending to.... :laugh5:
