We’ve just walked into Longridge, the wind is quite bitter and getting strong. Glad to be back to a cup of coffee.

Here in Barlick the wind is gusting up to almost 60mph and heavy rain is imminent. It's going to be nasty until after 20:00.

Yesterday afternoon the rain came in after 16:00 accompanied by the strongest winds of the day. By midnight the wind had brought the temperature down below freezing and the rain continued, partially as sleet. This is what we have now, heavy overcast, strong wind gusting and below freezing temperature giving us sleet showers. The glass is down on 987mb and still tending to fall. The forecast is for these sleet showers to stop but re-commence around 07:00 and stay with us for the rest of the day even if the cloud breaks later and gives us sunny spells. The constant WSW wind gusts to over 40mph and doesn't abate until this evening. We can expect a high of 6C and a low tonight of 0C with a -6C wind chill for much of the day. The perceived temperature will be below freezing all day. Tomorrow sees an increase in temperature and brighter weather. This improvement continues all week even though we may have some showers at times.
