Many of us enjoy Vidor's Toccata and Fugue.
Here it i/s played by CM Vidor on the Cavaille-Colle organ in St Sulpice Paris. He always said it was played too fast. here it is played by the man who knew best! (He was 88 when he recorded this.... )

Thanks for that Tripps, I don't remember seeing that video before though I'm sure I must have done! The Reverb Factory produced another video of our WW1 exhibition that same year.
We have just had to get a reprint done of Stephanie's book, on sale at £15 now. Stephanie writes a new book for the society every year just about. She is amazing!
How did you know it was me? I hardly recognised myself.

Thanks for that David, a very nice video and covering a subject very close to my heart. Someone once said "All politics is local!" I believe the same thing applies to history. You have to have a knowledge of local history before you can make any sense of the wider scene. Stephanie helps us to do that.

Re: May I recommend. . .
I would take exception at the statement that the town switched allegiance to Lancashire. I would think that most Barlicker's who know where they are and the fact that the Ridings are still in statute would take exception to that also. West Riding of Yorkshire please, argue with the Danes if you want.

Re: May I recommend. . .
I do believe you have mentioned the matter before.
This and seasons, equninoxes, and Trump. Close to obsessive.
The town now stands in the Lancashire Borough of Pendle but within the boundaries of the historic West Riding,
I'd say this is a fair statement of the facts.

Re: May I recommend. . .
David, not very impressed by the piece, it's simply a review of everything currently advertised in the town. Lancashire Life under Bill Amos was a good magazine but these days is more a marketing tool.

Re: May I recommend. . .
I note recently Trump was mentioning the US forces sending the Iranian navy to the bottom of the seas , he did say could they not be captured and used. This was the original aim of British Warships , which Nelson tended to move futher away from with fire ships and firing on ships to turn them to matchwood, caputuring a prize became rare. The Royal Navy re learnt how to capture in the early 1800s anglo american war taking mainly merchant ships. we have since moved to the idea of peace dividend and lack of any investment , not that a navy is really needed now , a few wind up motor boats with fireworks on them seem to do ok

In his first term Trump used Bruce Springsteen's `Born in the USA' without permission. I don't think he'll be using this one: Streets of Minneapolis
STREETS OF MINNEAPOLIS
Transcribed and researched by SpringsteenLyrics.com
Official studio version
Through the winter's ice and cold, down Nicollet Avenue
A city aflame fought fire and ice 'neath an occupier's boots
King Trump's private army from the DHS, guns belted to their coats
Came to Minneapolis to enforce the law or so their story goes
Against smoke and rubber bullets, in the dawn's early light
Citizens stood for justice, their voices ringing through the night
And there were bloody footprints where mercy should have stood
And two dead left to die on snow-filled streets, Alex Pretti and Renee Good
Oh our Minneapolis, I hear your voice singing through the bloody mist
We'll take our stand for this land and the stranger in our midst
Here in our home they killed and roamed in the winter of '26
We'll remember the names of those who died on the streets of Minneapolis
Trump's federal thugs beat up on his face and his chest
Then we heard the gunshots and Alex Pretti lay in the snow dead
Their claim was self-defense, sir, just don't believe your eyes
It's our blood and bones and these whistles and phones against Miller and Noem's dirty lies
Oh our Minneapolis, I hear your voice crying through the bloody mist
We'll remember the names of those who died on the streets of Minneapolis
Now they say they're here to uphold the law but they trample on our rights
If your skin is black or brown my friend you can be questioned or deported on sight
In our chants of "ICE out now!" our city's heart and soul persists
Through broken glass and bloody tears on the streets of Minneapolis
Oh our Minneapolis, I hear your voice singing through the bloody mist
Here in our home they killed and roamed in the winter of '26
We'll take our stand for this land and the stranger in our midst

Re: May I recommend. . .
Since getting rid of my landline - I like to have two modes of mobile to feel secure. They must be from different service providers, and with different networks - And cheap of course.
I was with Plusnet or a long time but they left the market, and steered me towards EE which is also owned by BT. The cost started at about £6 pcm but this has crept up and reached over £15 pcm. Time to say goodbye.
My reserve phone was on Lebara for £4.90 per month with an assurance of no unexpected price rises. It has not increased for more than three years.
I transfered my main number from EE to the existing Lebara (on the Vodaphone system) - which was surprisingly easy - just request a PAC nmber and use it. The process cancels the EE service, and I have received a refund for unused service.
I now looked arounnd for another service and ended with SPUSU. Never heard of them. Seems they are Austrian - active in UK for three years. Their website looks OK. I got 500 minutes voice and a few GB of data for £3.90 per month, which is quite eough for my needs. The SIM came in three days and installed easily. I can't see that deal any more - perhaps it's for new customers only. Ironically they use the EE system network. There is little risk as it is a monthly contract, and I can cancel at any time.
So I have two phones for £9.80 per month instead of over £20. For a simple service I think I'd recommend both of them.
