Morning

I was in bed early and have slept for hours as the various clock changes have caught up with me.

Today we are at Christies as Bob has two of the final scans to confirm the all clear. Depending on the waiting between one and the other it will be late afternoon when we get back. I shall take my kindle and find a quiet corner with a cuppa and read.

The weather forecast is cool and windy. Have a good day all

I shall not be thinking about shed time this morning as I will be getting my chicken in the oven instead. I shall deal with that after second sleep and then cook veggies. It will be a busy day.....

Morning

It is early and I have been awake for hours.i think I didn’t need much sleep as I had a very inactive day yesterday. It was a long day at Christies as Bob had two scams, one at noon the other mid afternoon. He went from one to the other so I mostly spent the afternoon reading in the cafeteria on some very uncomfortable chairs. It was 5.30pm when we got home and I missed yoga. I was really in need of some stretching and exercise so Paula said I could join the 6.30 pilates class.

This morning I have a Drs appointment to review my blood test results from a few weeks ago. Other than that I think we are ready to tackle decorating the last wall in the lounge which seems to have dried out at last. Its only the chimney breast and one alcove but involves emptying and moving a cabinet full of our best china and some Toby jugs. Then the wall paper has to be stripped behind it and the skirting board painted before the wall papering can be done. A couple of days work I think . I have pilates and yoga this evening.

Its 9 degrees and very misty at the moment. Cloudy and a high of 12 is forecast. I think the wind has died down which was making everything feel very cold. Have a good day all.

Morning Sue.... Yes, we have lost that wind which is what was making it so miserable. At the moment we have sun which is better than forecast.
I have just finished dealing with my roast chicken and am going to start veggie cooking..... I shall be busy!

I took another look at the flywheel this morning and wasn't satisfied with it. I could see there was room for improvement in the finish and also, more seriously, some stress had come out of the casting in the 48 hours since I roughed it out and it was running slightly out of true. So I re-worked it and am much more satisfied now.... I deserve my breakfast.

Morning

This morning is hair cut for both of us. I shall hace a swim about noon, provided the pool is not full of children jumping in which case I will come home again. This afternoon I will sew or start sorting drawers from the unit we have moved. We keep info on appliances in there and I am sure there will be out of date ones to throw away. Bob managed to get the old paper off the wall yesterday and the skirting board washed and painted so just the wallpaper to do, but unfortunately there are other things cropping up that are preventing a clear run at it. However the end is in sight.

Another dull day forecast about 12 degrees with a little rain at tea time.Have a good day all

This morning was not actual engine building but preparing for the next activities. I had a good chip chase on the bench and the lathe and then re-mounted the vise on the vertical mill. I am ready now to go forward with the remaining castings. Now for breakfast...

Morning

The Decorating is progressing nicely. The wall is done and the central piece of paper on the chimney breast. The contents of the cupboard are washed and we will sort them when we put things back. Probably tomorrow morning.

Its a beautiful sunny morning but cold and due to be sunny all day. I have art in Haslingden but Paula, whom I give a lift too, is in London for her daughter’s wedding (yesterday) . Lucy is not coming today as she is in Leeds, staying with her Dad and revising, she says! She is coming on Saturday afternoon instead

It should be a nice drive over Owd Betts, have a good day all

That sounds like a manageable day Sue. And yes, we have a sunny cold morning here in Barlick. I am having a hot drink then a walk for milk and after a rest, a bit of extender cooking!

That 'bit of extender cooking' growed like Topsy! The Co-op had Aldi priced rape seed oil back on the shelf so I filled my boots. I also got some half price barbecue ribs and a few sprouts. So, when I got back home the programme was empty and clean the deep fat fryer and refill with clean oil. Cook the sprouts and add to veggies and cook the ribs for dinner today. I'm having a sit down at the moment before I get into cooking the buttered swedes as another extender.

I shall be in the shed for an hour working on my castings.... Later after second sleep I shall fry my sweet potato chips and then do bugger all as I was far too busy yesterday!
Later.... I think I must be getting old! After finishing my maintenance work on the site it struck me that what I really wanted to do was have my breakfast and go back to bed.... So that's what I am going to do. The Empire will not totter!

Morning

The mammoth decorating task is finished. Today we will put the cupboard and its contents back and the room will return to comfort. Next stop Dunelm to look at curtains and cushion covers. After over 45 years of white walls we have gone coloured. The wallpaper on the chimney breast contains the colours of the existing carpet, furniture and fireplace, with coordinated pale duck egg blue walls.
IMG_4544.jpeg
Today being Friday it is lunch at the Italian with Barbara, Bill, Wendy and Keith . Its a long time since the 6 of us were together. Barbara and Bill are in the middle of moving to Rawtenstall to be nearer the town centre and family. At the moment they live in Weir near Bacup and suffer terribly from bad weather, plus they have a bigger garden and house than they can now manage. Am I glad we moved here into a bungalow all those years ago. Good bus service into Rochdale and at the moment still walkable. We are generally just below the snow line, and on the edge of lovely countryside. The only real negative is the distance from the Drs as the practice moved in the 1980s making it a mile plus further away from us and not really within walking distance. However we did not want to change as it is generally a better practice than the local one. No need for us to move ( and certainly not after all this decorating🤣)

Rian forecast today, have a good day all.

Yes, It's a bit bleak up at Weir and gets worse as you go over the tops to Burnley. I remember watching a bloke build a house up on Deerplay and I always thought he was mad. There was nothing between him and the Atlantic to curb the wind....
I have just got up after almost four hours second sleep. I must have needed it! I have a load of washing going and might think about frying sweet Potato chips in a while.....

Yes exactly, and Barbara and Bills house is back down in the valley from the village so when it snows they are stuck as they can’t get back up the hill

I shall be in the shed early doors doing useful things to my cylinder casting! I shan't be going out, the wind is strong enough to knock me over, I am not as steady on my feet as I used to be. It's good to be aware of your limitations.... :laugh5:

This morning I started milling the cylinder. This is where the accuracy of the dimensions of every part of the cylinder are set by the accuracy of the relationships between the surfaces you are creating so it pays to be very careful and measure accurately. Speed is not the object. So far so good and I deserve my breakfast.

Morning

I see I did not write yesterday, my usual routine seems to have been disrupted. We were up and out early to go to Dunelm where we found different curtains that we liked. From there we walked into Rochdale to take an order back to M&S, stopping for a coffee before walking back to the car at Dunelm. We hung the curtains we bought for the lounge and had to order another pair from Dunelm for the dining room , had lunch and it was time to pick Lucy up from the train station. She did a good productive three hours sewing.

After she left we had an early tea ready for a Zoom wine tasting session. During the day I was sneezing a lot and was unsure if it was Hayfever made worse by the wind stirring up the tree pollen or if I had a cold. I was in bed by 9.45 pm tired out. I slept badly and this morning have a very runny nose. I think it is a cold!

The railway at the park starts back today, i don’t think there will be many there. Whilst Bob is out I shall do some ironing and steam the new curtains in situ as they are very creased. Otherwise I have little intention of doing much except nursing my cold. Have a good day all.
