Morning Sue! And it looks like a good day for it! I've just come down after second sleep and I'm having a pot of tea.... XXX

An hour in the shed early doors for my daily OT session.... Not sure about later, I shall take a view after second sleep.

This morning I de-burred the tapping in the piston and made the 1/4" SS piston rod threaded 2BA at each end. Then I checked that the groove was wide enough for the rings. Tomorrow I'll make sure the rings fit the bore but for the time being breakfast takes precedence.

Afternoon

We had a day to ourselves today. We had a prompt breakfast as we had booked ourselves into a tour of the Victorian Gaiety Theatre in Douglas. It started at 10 and we walked the half mile there in drizzle which turned out to be rain all day. The theatre has been beautifully and authentically renovated back to its 1903 glory days . The tour was over two hours including, back stage, below stage with exquisite victorian engineering, and in the auditorium . Whilst I had no problem climbing up to the ‘gods’ of the theatre I am afraid my vertigo got the better of me up there. Its funny how I can cope with high mountains and even cliffs but high man made structures set me off. The floor was deliberately on a slight slope to give a better view of the stage but to me I felt I was rolling down a steep slope and had to hold on to the back wall . It reminded me of a roof top trip at Lincoln Cathedral some 25 years ago. I clung to the walls whilst Bob admired the view

After the trip, with the rain now very heavy we had lunch in a local cafe then walked up hill to the Manx Museum . Here we spent a very pleasant three hours learning about history, culture, geology, natural history and tourism. It was an excellent visit.

We are now back at the hotel having a cuppa and packing. Our cases have to be outside the door by 9.00 pm . We leave tomorrow after a very early breakfast in time for the 8.30 ferry. We then reverse our Tuesday trip here and should be home late Sunday afternoon.

Its been a very good few days. Hope you all had a good day, damp I believe like here.

Sorry to hear about the vertigo Sue but glad that otherwise you have had such a good visit. And yes, we had rain all afternoon!
I shall be in the shed working on making my piston and rings a good fit in the cylinder bore.... Not sure about later..... We shall see.

Funny how the simple little jobs can take so much time! This morning I wanted to adjust the fit of my rings in the piston and prove the fit by installing the piston in the cylinder. I paid the price for my attention to detail in that the fits were so precise that everything had to be massaged carefully to get a fit. That's done now and we have a piston and rings that are a very good fit in the cylinder. That took half an hour so I have earned my breakfast.

Morning

Just having a cuppa before showering. I opened the bedroom curtains and saw the ferry arriving. We breakfast after 6 then go for the ferry at 7.15 which leaves at 8.30. The sea is calm at the moment. Wind is forecast here later, not sure about on the sea, yesterday's rain has gone. Have a good day all

I'm on a train from Skipton to Carlisle, but will be getting off at Langwathby, not far from Penrith. I'm meeting up with my brother and nephew, who have had a few days walking on the Lakes. We will have a walk, a late lunch and much catching up. I haven't seen my nephew since 2014. My brother is driving me back home this evening before heading back to Devon tomorrow. I hope he will be pleased with the progress I'm making on the house and workshop! Just stopped at Horton in Ribblesdale.

That sounds like a well-planned excursion Wendy! I hope it all goes to plan.
I have just got back from a shop at the Co-op for peppers and tomatoes to go with the chicken I shall have to roast soon....

I shall be in the shed early doors, most likely preparing for painting which has got to happen soon and the coming warm weather is looking like the trigger. Later I shall have a walk to the Co-op for my milk and anything else that catches my eye...

I went into the shed and surveyed the piste. It's obvious that the next logical step is to paint the castings and that is a daytime fine weather job. So I decided to do nothing, have breakfast and an early return to bed for second sleep.

Morning

We had a very smooth crossing and arrived in Heysham some 20 minutes early. We shared a taxi with another couple back to the railway station at Lancaster but because we had booked ticks we had 90 minutes to wait for our train to Bolton. Once there we discovered the Train we would use had been cancelled due to a problem with a tunnel. Rather than wait another hour for a train To Victoria and catch another one out we caught an UBER taxi Instead and were home at 3.24 pm.We unpacked and I had all the washing done by 7.30 pm, some of which dried outside before it started raining.

This morning is french at Haslingden, this afternoon I shall do the ironing and this evening is yoga. Have a good. Day all

I'm back from my Co-op shop. Milk and the heavy end of this week's veggies. The outer leaves of three cauliflowers are chopped up and in the pressure cooker on the hob. I think a brew is indicated!

Sunday is always a bad day as it is used for maintenance. In this case a tunnel between Blackburn and Bolton was deemed to be unsafe so trains were cancelled . It was the Clitheroe line which was the direct train to Rochdale. We could have gone in to Victoria and changed trains but it is an arduous affair

There will be no shed this morning, instead I shall prepare my chicken and get it in the oven. Later after second sleep I shall deal with it, do the remainder of my veggie shopping and be available for Robin who comes to pamper my feet later today.

Morning

Its cool and pouring with rain. I have to go for an xray on my back this morning and was going to walk to the hospital which is just over a mile away but if this doesn’t stop I will go in the car. Typically I got my summer clothes out of the loft yesterday, in anticipation of a warm weekend, though I always keep light weight jumpers and cardigans in my wardrobe.

This afternoon I have a picture to draw for my art class on Thursday , at tea time I have pilates and yoga in the studio. Have a good day everyone,

Cold wet day here as well Sue. I have just finished washing my roasting tin and putting it away after dealing with my roast chicken. Veggie shopping next before Robin comes to pamper my feet.

The morning's going well. Back in the hutch with the rest of the veggies and ready for my dinner.

No shed first thing as I am waiting for a dry day to paint my castings. I shall be cooking veggies after second sleep.....
