Yes Ian, I remember it. I thought the pic was quite appropriate this morning as we look at a party in ruins.

We often forget how lucky we are in Barlick. We don't have to go far to be in some beautiful countryside.

Slater's Terrace Burnley seen from the top of Newtown Mill chimney. A good example of the dereliction which could follow textile closure and lack of investment in the future....

Burnley Ironworks in 1917. There are some steam engine parts here but the main of the production on the floor is shell-making lathes. This is evidence of the effort that was going into solving the ammunition shortages on the Western Front.

Holman Brothers Ltd. was an English mining equipment manufacturer founded in 1801 based in Camborne. Here's their shop. Not sure of the date but pre-1900 I think.

The square building on the left is the old air raid shelter which was used as a store for materials that were a fire risk like oil soaked sweepings and some oils....

I bought the large LCU set and it cost me more than a week's wage but I never regretted it. I still have the same set intact in the original case almost seventy years later. The modern equivalent costs over £500. I think I got a bargain!

My parents bought me a socket set on my 21st birthday, I used to do my own car maintenance then. I still have most of it, I had to replace a ratchet as the original broke.

When I bought mine I knew nothing about Elora..... However after all those years of hard use nothing has broken and I haven't lost any...... As near perfect service as you could wish. Thinking about the price in terms of how many hours work paid for it, it's probably about the same today, a week and a half's work at the average industrial wage.....
