Bucket for carrying hard water

I suppose it could carry very, very hard water...

Wendy is spot on - it's a bucket for collecting and carrying eggs in.

The bucket was used in an egg washing machine with water flowing freely around the eggs and draining away through all the gaps.

Standard shaft but the pip on the front edge of the winder must have a purpose or it wouldn't be there, just cant think what for though.

I use those clasp thingamajibs too, so simple but very practicle and clever. Glad someone thought to produce them.

Agreed Cathy one of those simple things you wish you had thought of first. Clothes pegs (spring clip type) very useful in the freezer as well.

Dash. The long bit locates in the centre and the blip bit inserts into "a like" type hole, then the whole thing is turned..... to let steam/air/water out in small amounts????

Not there yet Gloria. You're right in that it is a key for turning a square spindle.

Square spindle, that really narrows it down Stanley. Does it have a makers mark, or would that be giving too much away?

Is it something to do with a wheel??? too small to be used for a car wheel.

It could be that the pip on the winder is not part of the actual turning mechanism but has an ancillary purpose similar to the keys used for clockwork Hornby trains, they had a rail gauge on the back edge of the winder. Penny not dropped on what the added use could be though.

Well, that could be something from the office or stationery range, they make all sorts of stuff. I'll have a guess at a key for an old filing cabinet.

Or it could be for some more industrial products using the same name.
