He scares us all when he says things like that, Liz.
He often eats the dog food...or what he calls dog food...because he feeds the dog meat fit for human consumption.
I still cringe every time I read it.

Dinner tonight. Bought some fresh Prawns on my way back from the hospital. It was a complete whim...was sitting at the traffic lights and suddenly felt like Chilli Prawn Pizza. Am hoping adult son recovers enough from his hangover to enjoy it. (stupid pub had 'happy hour' for 4 hours with half priced drinks apparently...he arrived home in such a state I had to get out of bed and let him in as he wasn't capable of getting the key anywhere near the lock. Then he climbed into the house, over an invisible step that we don't have (that was hilarious!) He is now sprawled on the couch in the darkened lounge with his hoodie over his head. He has no recollection of coming home, didn't bother getting undressed and slept with his shoes on. Apparently the poor boy's head is whirling in one direction and his tummy is whirling in the other now. Ha...do I care? Not a jot.)

Liz, don't worry, Jack#s dog food is best mince stewed slowly until it is cooked. Never feed a dog anything you wouldn't eat yourself. It cuts down on vet's bills!
Maz, I agree, it's self-inflicted injury....
Spent more time cooking than eating yesterday. Haslett butty with tomato and olives for dinner. Some currant bread for tea, just for a treat. Felt guilty afterwards.....

Sausage, tomato and beans casserole, with rice for dinner and with toasted pobs for tea. One helping left for dinner and I shall be building another casserole on jerked ribs, tomato and beans. Sooner I get my teeth the better!

Beans, sausage and bread pobs for dinner and jerked beef casserole for tea. Having just one thin slice of bread toasted each time is good for my weight but I admit to feeling slightly hungry. Never mind, good for my back!

I'm glad you explained about the dog food. I wouldn't eat what I feed my dogs, it's mainly dry food and I'd worry about cracking my teeth!

Liz, I don't east the dog biscuits! Yesterday was two meals of jerked pork, tomato and beans casserole with rice and today will be the same. Perhaps spaghetti instead of the rice?

Yesterday we had American Poulet ready made sandwich (basically it's chicken breast with salad on a baguette) and for tea I made a beef stew done in the crock pot. Tasted lovely but the weather went hot here again yesterday. Eileen

Finished the jerked rib casserole off with spaghetti, dinner and tea. I have a loaf in so plain butties today! Roll on me teeth!

Last night, steamed Wirral asparagus fresh from the farm, with butter and salt and pepper. Then a roasted chicken leg with fennel.

Last cutting of the local asparagus today as is traditional. Here at least, they do not extend the season beyond 21 June no matter how late it starts and it was about a month late this year. We have gorged ourselves on at least 3 bunches each a week for this season, as we do each year. Which is fair enough - no asparagus will pass our lips again once what we have is done and the season starts again next year.

Pasta and beet tops tonight (assuming we don't overdo it in the pub and end up with a takeaway).

Richard, there is a lot to be said for seasonal vegetables. I can still remember in the 1950s how we looked forward to the first proper salad of summer. They don't taste anywhere near as good now we can have one every day of the year if we want to. I noted on the BBC2 programme about Heathrow that Nigerian spinach was being airfreighted into the country......

Pie and peas for dinner and a potted beef butty for tea with five over-ripe pears for pudding as they definitely needed eating!

Two butties, tomato relish (I made another batch) olives, haslet, sliced beetroot and a drop of Heinz salad cream on the beet. Same for dinner and tea. I do like a good interesting butty!

I do like my 'proper coffee' in the morning and noticed the other day that the Co-op must have over-bought strength 4 beans as they were reduced to £2.39 for 227gm. I only need half as much for my morning pint so I filled me boots! Must be about half the cost of my normal Fairtrade ground coffee strength 3 and so it's a nice saving. No problem grinding the beans because I always used beans at one time and have a grinder.

The only thing cheap here is coffee, wine and beer Stanley. Last night for tea we curried the left over chicken from our roast dinner the night before. Eileen

Good fish fingers are a joy Wendy! Yesterday I had two butties. Tomato relish, olives, black pudding and two fried eggs on each. Lovely but I admit they were a bit over the top!

Made some lovely Cream of Vegetable Soup yesterday, so the leftovers tonight.
We don't eat "afters" or "pudding".

Same as yesterday but St Augur soft cheese and beetroot instead of black pudding and eggs. It will be nice to have a bacon butty......

So do I Moh. Had frozen stew X 2 yesterday with a bit of bread and soft cheese for afters at teatime. Roll on getting me teeth back next Tuesday!
