A lady came into Colne Library this morning trying to trace members of the Longworth family who moved to Thornton Hall Farm, Thornton in Craven sometime in the 1950's from Salmesbury. Her brother was a friend of the 4 sons of the family who were born in the 1930's, but lost touch many years ago.
The sons were called George, Alan, Tom & Jack. Anyone remember them?

Re: Longworth Family
I picked the milk up at Thornton Hall in the 50s and 60s and the family farming there was the Dawsons. Two sons, John and Fred. Are you sure she has the right farm?

Re: Longworth Family
She may have got the wrong farm, or I may have picked up the wrong date for the move. If these were boyhood friends of her brother, all born in the thirties, then it's possible they moved from Salmesbury during the forties. I'll check.

Could fit Wendy. I have a vague memory that Ernie once told me about farming somewhere else and that he took the farm after being offered the tenancy by his feed firm...
